John Wick Spinoff 'Ballerina' Featuring Kaenu Reeves Is In Production

Lionsgate’s John Wick is currently one of the most anticipated franchises from the studio. Recently, the studio also confirmed the making of Ballerina spin-off movie, a John Wick spinoff movie, starring Ana de Armas. Significantly, Kaenu Reeves will also reprise his role in this movie.

John Wick first premiered in 2014 and was a hit movie, commercially and critically. Following it, Lionsgate also produced John Wick sequels including John Wick: Chapter 2, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4. Last year, the studio also announced the production of a John Wick spinoff movie, Ballerina. The movie will focus on a female assassin who is also in the same universe with the current character. A miniseries, The Continental, will be also officially announced later. The Continental will focus the early life of Winston as he works as the Continental Hotel

#2. Who Will Act In Ballerina - John Wick Spinoff?

The starring actress of the movie is Ana de Armas. De Armas is a Cuban-Spanish actress who took part in several projects including the recent movie Blonde on Netflix. She also starred in Ryan Gosling’s The Gray Man, Ben Affleck’s Deep Water and Daniel Craig’s No Time to Die (which is also the twenty-fifth movie in the James Bond franchise). 
Reportedly, the stars of John Wick will reprise their roles in the upcoming spinoff consisting of Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane. They will once again act opposite each other as John Wick and Winston, respectively. 
John Wick producer Basil Iwanyk is also in charge of the movie. Therefore, the whole franchise is expected to be perfectly in sync without much conflicts. The Ballerina previously appeared in John Wick 3 with the performance of American ballet dancer Unity Phelan.

#3. The Filming Is Taking Place In Prague

Reeves is currently in Prague for the filming of the film. However, further details remain unknown. It is uncertain that Reeves’ character will play a major role or a cameo. Otherwise, the news also excites fans and audiences while waiting for the worldwide premiere of John Wick 4. A few days ago, Lionsgate released the official trailer of the film and caught a lot of attention. John Wick: Chapter 4 will be in the theater on March 24, 2023. Ballerina release date remains unannounced so far but seemingly, the movie will not premiere until mid-2024. Now, audiences might completely anticipate the fourth John Wick movie without fear of another postponement.
