Davis told TheWrap that he first met "Jeff Dahmer" when he was 20. After dropping out of college at his father's urging, Davis enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Baumholder, West Germany, where he met Dahmer eight months into his tour of duty. Davis, an African-American, told TheWrap, "I didn't like for him because of his racial overtures." "Once he started drinking, he became very rude, and he was already very bigoted."
Dahmer did have a history of alcoholism. The convicted killer's former classmates recall that he would bring alcohol to school and hide it in his locker, telling onlookers that it was his "medicine." Davis told TheWrap that Dahmer would frequently drink in the barracks during his military service and that he would tell the other soldiers about his first murder victim, Steven Hicks, whom he killed just a year earlier.
Jeffrey had already murdered his first victim a year before enlisting in the service; while inebriated, he would brag, "I killed the guy in Ohio," to which his fellow soldiers would respond, "you didn't kill anyone!" When Davis said, "He became a monster once he started drinking," I knew I had heard the truth. "Alcohol was the catalyst for his monstrous behavior."

Davis, now 58, claims that he and Dahmer were in the midst of a field exercise in Belgium in October of 1979 when their vehicle broke down with only three days left. A tow truck brought it to the train station. Davis says the incident occurred "somewhere in that time frame" and that Dahmer has never admitted to it. The fact that we were in the middle of Belgium prevented him from killing me; when I departed, he exclaimed, "I should've murdered that n—- when I had the chance." He had no idea how to get back to Germany.
Davis claims that he did not remember what had happened until he was 50 years old in 2009. He sought help from a therapist specializing in military sexual trauma when memories of the encounter began to resurface. He also revealed that he had forgotten about a fight they had in the military until he came across Dahmer's name online. He said, "My mind had shut down that entire time."
