Filmmaking is like a lottery. Even an experienced director can’t make sure 100% whether the movie will become a hit or a box-office bomb. While some movies take off and soar at the box office, others flop like a fish out of water and are dragged into the sea of infamy. Roles in these movies left the audience disappointed. Veteran legends like Ai Pacino and Robert Deniro or stars at the peak of their powers such as Leonardo DiCaprio or Tom Hardy can’t guarantee the success of the movie.

#1 Tom Holland, Uncharted

“Uncharted” was a bad movie that the audience noticed many references to the iconic saga “Indiana Jones”. Critics said that Tom Holland played “a very Holland-like character — charismatic, boyishly charming, a bit daffy, and with an unshakable innocence,” but this wasn’t enough to become a bold treasure hunter.

Although Dakota Johnson is a talented actress and stars in the very famous trilogy, she can’t find a role that will satisfy the audience. They also called “Persuasion”, in which she took part, a disaster, and she got her portion of criticism because of her terrible accent. The audience wasn’t pleased that tan American actress portrayed a British character.

In 2021, we saw many bad movies and one of them is “Jolt”. The well-known actress Kate Beckinsale became a part of the movie and made it promising. However, the movie was a failure, being called extremely predictable and so boring. A reviewer said that Kate Beckinsale’s talent was wasted in that action role.

Kristen Stewart’s acting gets contrasting reviews. In 2021, she was nominated for the Academy Award for her portrayal of Lady Di in “Spencer”. In 2022, she played in David Cronenberg's controversial movie ‘Crimes of the Future”. The movie rating hasn’t even reached 6 out of 10.

#5 Kevin Hart, The Man from Toronto

Netflix’s The Man from Toronto got bad reviewers from critics and movie buffs. Despite the good idea and the famous cast, the movie just didn’t work out. One of the reviewers noted that Hart “has created this ‘actor’ persona which does the same thing in every movie: talking non-stop in a whiny voice and pointing the obvious like it would be amusing.”

#6 Pierce Brosnan, The King’s Daughter

In 2022, “The King’s Daughter” became “a royal disappointment”. The movie was considered a “chaotic and just plain kooky mess”. Brosnan was also criticized for wearing an awkward wig and not even trying to speak with a French accent.

After the failure of “Big Gold Brick”, many wondered whether Megan Fox was able to act. Not only the actress but her co-stars got criticism. The movie was called a meretricious, unfunny, strained, and ultimately trite black comedy.

Despite being a nominee for Golden Globe and Academy Awards, Jake Gyllenhaal can be unconvincing in his role. His role in the movie “Ambulance” is a failure. Many fans wondered, “Why would the talented Jake Gyllenhaal want to be in this mess of a movie?”.

“My Policeman” received a lot of negative reviews. The audience didn’t like both the script and the acting. The movie starred Harry Styles who was considered a terrible actor and any movie he starred in will be ruined by his presence.

#10 Kristin Davis, Deadly Illusions

“Deadly Illusions” ranked 1 in the list of the worst movies of 2021 though it starred Dermot Mulroney and Kristin Davis. Many believed that Davis had to get all the blame. The audience mentioned that it seemed like the actress was “just going through the motions, knowing that she could do better, but not really willing to put forth the effort.”

Mads Mikkelsen, who played Gellert Grindelwald in “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”, was anxious because the audience doesn’t really like when film directors replace actors, especially when the actor to be replaced is Johnny Depp. However, everything turned out to be the other way around. It seemed that Depp had to be nervous because critics concluded, “Mads Mikkelsen’s Grindelwald is an upgrade from Johnny Depp’s.”

#12 Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, Thor: Love and Thunder

“Thor: Love and Thunder” wasn’t successful. Many called it a crushing disappointment. even though Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman had charisma and chemistry, they didn’t look like people in love.

#13 Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, The Lost City

The audience said that “The Lost City”, which was criticized, wasn’t right for Bullock and Channing Tatum. In the reviews, they wrote that “the screenplay was embarrassingly bad, and it brought out all of Bullock’s and Tatum’s worst tendencies. The only good thing about it was Brad Pitt’s appearance on screen.

#14 Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, Destination Wedding
