The Hollywood Walk of Fame is an internationally-recognized Hollywood icon and is a place to pay tribute to legendary figures, including actors, musicians, directors, producers, and others in the Entertainment industry. So, getting a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame is an ambition of all celebs. It has become a symbol that shows how important their career is to the world and that they have reached the heights of success.
Despite the fact that receiving a star is a great honor, there are a few celebs who actually turned down getting a star. Some don’t see it as a big deal or take it seriously while some don’t even bother to show up to the ceremony.

#1 Madonna

Madonna conquered millions of hearts thanks to her hit album “Like a Virgin” at the end of the ‘80s. Moreover, she was breaking new records with her music. Despite being nominated by a group of critics in 1990, she decided to turn down getting the nomination. Until now, no one knows her reason.

#2 Whitney Houston

The “I Will Always Love You” singer was nominated in 1995 to have her star in Hollywood Blvd but she as well as her staff never came back to the Chamber of Commerce to determine the date of the awarding event, so the deadline to receive her star expired. After years, there was a discussion to establish a date together with the artist’s family to finally have the star installed. During an interview, Houston’s manager and sister-in-law revealed that “Houston did not want people to walk on her name.”

#3 Bruce Springsteen

Despite accepting having his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Bruce Springsteen never received it. However, he didn’t show up for the public ceremony. Since then, the committee in charge of the award instituted a rule, called “Springsteen policy” that makes it explicit that stars must promise to attend the event once they have accepted the award.

Clint Eastwood had an extensive career, working on over 70 movies. And that’s acting alone. He also produced and directed many other movies. For his contribution, he deserved to have his name on a star. However, he always said no politely.

We never see Julia Roberts’ name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame because the actress turned down the offer. She doesn’t care whether she owns a small piece of land with a star or not.

Despite being nominated to having a star, John Denver never agreed on a date for the ceremony. 17 years after his death, his family agreed to have a posthumous star installed for him. “We are proud to honor one of America’s singing icons who has been missed for many years. Luckily for us, we have his amazing music to remember him by,” said the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President.
