10 DCEU Actors Who Are Tailor-Made For Their Respective Roles

The DCEU could be inconsistent and pale in comparison to their Marvel counterparts, but there is at least one thing they have done right with their universe: the casting. Warner Bros. seems to have a knack for choosing their actors perfectly for their superhero roles, from Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and so on.
These DCEU actors portrayed their respective roles so well, that sometimes we even feel like they are the characters themselves. As the DCEU is coming to an end, James Gunn’s rebooted DC Universe will have a hard time replacing some of these performers with worthy candidates. For now, let’s browse through some of the best DCEU actors we have ever seen, and hopefully, they’ll have the chance to reprise their roles again in the future.

#1. Henry Cavill As Kal-El/Superman

Of course, we cannot start this list without the Man of Steel. Henry Cavill simply has everything to play as the Big Blue Boy Scout: his look is a carbon copy of Comic Superman, his stoic expression fits the role like a glove, and he looks incredible in the red-and-blue suit. Sometimes, it feels like the British actor was born to play the role.

#2. Ben Affleck As Bruce Wayne/Batman

Affleck’s performance as the Caped Crusader may not be up there just yet with the likes of Christian Bale and Michael Keaton just yet, but his portrayal is at least more than decent. The actor has that handsome rich boy vibe of Bruce Wayne without the mask, and also looks intimidating to criminals as the Prince of Gotham.
DC fans call him “Batfleck”, which is a clear sign of approval for his Batman performance in the DCEU. It’s almost a crime for Warner Bros. not to release at least one solo Batman movie, because that’s the least Affleck deserves.

#3. Gal Gadot As Diana Prince/Wonder Woman

There were some concerns initially about Gadot’s casting as Diana, as the Israeli actress didn’t have much experience playing lead roles back then. However, Gadot quickly proved everyone wrong. Fans consider her to be the best Wonder Woman actress ever in Hollywood’s history, and her first movie is widely considered one of the best in the whole DCEU.

#4. Jason Momoa As Arthur Curry/Aquaman

Momoa has longer hair and a more ballistic appearance than Arthur Curry in the comics, but that doesn’t stop him from being the most popular Aquaman there is. His big build fits into the iconic suit like a glove, and his performance pretty much sets a high bar for every future Aquaman actor. Someone commented Momoa didn’t play Aquaman because he IS Aquaman, and I couldn’t agree more.

#5. The Rock As Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson’s appearance isn’t exactly a carbon copy from the comics either, but no one questions his casting either. While having to give up his usual comedy gigs in movies, Johnson has everything it takes to portray Black Adam: his ideal body, stern look, and intimidating presence when it matters most. It's almost a shame the DCEU Black Adam is only a one-off thing, because fans were really looking forward to that Superman-Adam battle.

#6. Xolo Maridueña As Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle

Blue Beetle is a relatively new DC superhero to casual fans, but Maridueña nails the role perfectly in his solo movie. The Cobra Kai star has done a brilliant job of portraying an awkward college student whose life gets intertwined with a powerful extra-terrestrial being, and struggles his way to balance his life out.
While the movie wasn’t exactly popular, Maridueña definitely shows a lot of promises as Jaime, and DC fans are jubilant to hear that he will be a part of James Gunn’s new DC Universe.

#7. Ezra Miller As Barry Allen/The Flash

Ezra Miller may have a lot of ongoing controversies with their personal life right now, but there’s no denying that their performance as The Flash in the DCEU is brilliant. They have done a great job portraying a more awkward and inexperienced Barry Allen than the comics, who’s still figuring out his whole superhero alias thing. Miller’s performance is also one of the few saving graces from 2023’s The Flash, as the movie is widely considered one of DCEU’s worst.

#8. Sasha Calle As Kara Jor-El/Supergirl

DC fans were fuming for a reason when they heard that Sasha Calle won’t be a part of the rebooted DCU. While her screen time in The Flash is brief, the actress has done brilliantly portraying the Kryptonian, and is one of the best parts of the movie. Calle looks awesome in the Supergirl suit, and while her appearance is vastly different from her comic counterpart, almost no one complained about this aspect since she suits the role down to a T.

#9. Margot Robbie As Harley Quinn

Margot Robbie single-handedly takes the spotlight in the star-studded Suicide Squad movie, despite she was still a new actress to the scene back then. However, she suits the role so well, as her expressive acting helps her portray all of Harley’s crazed emotions, and she has the chance to flaunt her perfect figure by donning the villain’s casual outfit. I mean, just look at her expression here. and tell me she’s not born to play the role.

#10. Zachary Levi As Shazam

One of the biggest reasons why the first Shazam! movie was so well-received is thanks to Zachary Levi’s performance as the hero. In the movie, Levi is goofy, clumsy, and awkward, and he perfectly portrays a young boy trapped in a grown man’s body. His over-the-top expressions are unmatched, as well. It’s a shame the sequel wasn’t as critically acclaimed as the first one, as we all love to see Levi in the iconic red-and-white suit.

Do you agree that DCEU has the best actors? Do you want these performers to reprise their roles in the future? Let us know in the comments.
