Who Is Danny Meng? Where Is He Now? Boston Marathon Bombing Survivor In A New Netflix Doc
The people of Boston saw one of the most horrific tragedies of their lives when two explosions took the lives of three individuals and injured a number of others at the 2013 Annual Boston Marathon on April 15. Similar to other locals, Danny “Dun” Meng from Cambridge was shocked by the violence and chose to remain inside as the authorities assumed control of the situation. Netflix’s 'American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing' records the occurrence and shows how Danny was taken by two armed men who asserted to be the bombers on the night of April 18. Let us take a closer look at Danny’s ordeal and see where he is now.
By April 2013, Danny had already completed his Master's degree and was living a tranquil life in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Unbeknownst to him, on the 15th of April 2013, the Tsarnaev brothers detonated two homemade pressure-cooker bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three people and leaving a number of others with serious injuries. Fortunately, the FBI were able to sift through a wealth of digital evidence in just three days, allowing them to release images of the suspects to the public.
Danny explained that the days following his abduction were the most difficult. He developed an intense fear of being taken again, and was reluctant to leave his home. Fortunately, his family and friends offered him their support and guidance, which enabled him to move past his hardships. He expressed his gratitude for the people who assisted him, saying, “I had to speak to the Red Cross, they gave me advice, and I talked to my friends.”
He mentioned that his professors had been very supportive and encouraged him to speak to people he could trust. Furthermore, the producers of 'Patriots Day' took his ideas into account when making the movie. Danny is not very active on social media, but there are reports that he has started his own tech startup in Cambridge, Massachusetts and it seems to be doing well. We wish Danny all the best for the future and hope he continues to succeed.

On the evening of April 18, 2013, Danny was out on a drive in his SUV when a car pulled up behind him. Subsequently, a man approached his driver’s side window and soon threatened him with a gun before getting into the vehicle. The first man was then joined by a younger individual, and Danny was forced to drive to a location in Watertown. Once in Watertown, the kidnappers moved a few boxes from their own car to the SUV while Danny was forced to move into the passenger seat. Then, the assailants drove off in search of a gas station as they planned on traveling to New York overnight.Source: CBS News
Once at the gas station, Danny noticed that his assailants were somewhat distracted. Hence, he took this opportunity to escape and run across the road to a second gas station. He then convinced the clerk to allow him to call 911 before informing the police about the kidnappers’ whereabouts. Once first responders reached the scene, Danny insisted that his kidnappers confessed to the Boston Marathon Bombing. Moreover, he handed over the GPS tracking number of his car to the police, and soon officers had a good idea of the duo’s whereabouts. Although arresting the bomber, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, would still take quite some time, Danny was allowed to return home.#2. Where is Danny Meng now?
