Unfortunately, his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, which then spread to her liver. Her condition declined over time, so Moranis took a break from acting to spend time with her. She passed away in 1991, leaving Moranis responsible for raising their 2 little kids alone.
The actor attempted to balance his work and personal life for a while. But it became more and more challenging to raise his children while traveling so much and making different films. So he decided to take another break, then another one, and then found that he didn’t skip it.
In the last few years, he was offered some movie parts but rejected all of them. Now, he’s doing a lot of writing and many parenting. Currently, he lives in Manhattan with his family, leading a peaceful and comfortable life with his kids, and he has no regrets about leaving Hollywood.

Renée Zellweger has taken a break from Hollywood twice. The first time was in 2010, as a sudden decision for fans, but not for Zellweger. She’s been working nonstop since 1994 and just needed some rest.
Then came 3 of her most famous films, which were about her character, Bridget Jones, and then she went away again. It is said that it was her fellow actress and friend, Salma Hayek, who made her realize she ought to stop and smell the roses.
“I was fatigued and wasn’t taking the time I needed to recover between projects,” revealed the actress. So she needed some time to relax and grow up a bit. Her therapist made her concentrate more on health and happiness.
However, despite all the sorrow and mess, she’s put herself first on her list of priorities. Actually, she never actually quit acting. So in 2022, after 2 years of quiet, we can see her in the TV miniseries, The Thing About Pam.
