animals and wishing them a bright, happy life with their new families is always a good thing that's worth celebrating. Still, when Betsy, the shy woofing girl, left
Humane Rescue Alliance to come home with her new owner, there were tears here and there.

In the winter of 2021, Betsy was rescued while abandoned in the Anacostia neighborhood in Southeast D.C. She immediately won hearts with her dashing characteristic. However, the pup couldn't make friends with other dogs and got more anxious. She avoided them and stayed away from strangers. Sudden, big noise would scare her, so the staff gave her some quiet space.

After over 200 days at the shelter getting affection from caretakers, Betsy won over her fear and was signed up for adoption in August 2022. When the new family picked her up was the day the shelter was celebrating Clear the Shelters day, a nationwide pet adoption drive, and everyone was there to say goodbye.

As the furball took one last glance at the people she used to love cuddling and playing with, she seemed so attached and ran back to them. Thus, they started to clap and encourage her to move forward. Somebody got goosebumps, while some shed tears. It was a precious moving moment for Betsy, her new family, and the rescuers.
The moment was recorded and uploaded on the shelter's Instagram. Plenty of viewers got emotional after watching it and commented that they wished every pet could have found a suitable home. Eventually, Betsy could joyfully say hi to her happy furever life waiting ahead.
