Upset Employee Responds Brilliantly When Employer Refused To Pay Him A Deserved Salary

What are people working for? Firstly, everybody needs to earn a living. It's the biggest reason for 99% of workers, employees, or freelancers. Once people have a stable income, they can think about dedication and devotion. Nonetheless, some companies ignore that fact, which leads to implosive conflicts between employers and employees.

Redditor u/ubermick asked for help on the viral subreddit r/ChoosingBeggars. He had taken the duty of two people for more than six months without any bonus pennies. In the annual performance review sent to his email, his boss praised him for his effort and wanted him to maintain the current amount of his work.

However, they wouldn't give the OP a salary raise due to COVID-19. To make it worse, he found out that all managers had got 10% raises and bonuses, which infuriated him. Henceforth, he wrote a feedback email to the leader. He didn't want to give up his job, but keeping working more for nothing was unreasonable.

Then, the CFO, HR, supervisor, and OP had a meeting. They agreed to offer him a 10% raise and a $1000 bonus per month, but it didn't apply to the previous six months and wasn't in the sufficient budget since the leadership team said they would sacrifice their bonuses to cover it. Besides, they promised to recruit the position quickly so that the OP could get out of the additional duty. The OP wasn't happy about the decision. He discussed it with his wife and considered looking for a new job.

Unbeknownst to the OP, five other employees had received the same annual notice and were unpleased. Afterward, they were all offered a solution like the OP, which certainly wasn't enough to satisfy them. They intended to leave, which the OP thought would drag the company down. Thus, he accepted the raise but had several interviews lined up.

In the comment section, Redditors cited that this kind of leader cheating on people's salaries was the reason many enthusiastic workers lost their motion and encouragement for work. Though money wasn't everything, it shouldn't be seen as nothing.

At last, Redditors felt good about the OP's decision and hoped he soon found a better job. Since he had quite an excellent review in his file, his resume would interest a handful of recruiters.
