Tobey Maguire’s Insane Spider-Sense Reaction In Real Life Proves He Still Has What It Takes To Be Spider-Man
In the last 20 years, we have had the privilege to see not one, but three different Spider-Men on the silver screen, and all three of them deliver perfectly. From Tobey Maguire, to Andrew Garfield to Tom Holland, they all bring something unique to the iconic role, and to see them star together in Spider-Man: No Way Home as different Peter Parker variants is the ultimate dream come true for us Spidey fans.
Out of all three, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man remains the most iconic and endearing to the millennials and Gen Z fans, having played the role from 2002 to 2007. Obviously, fans want the actor to reprise the role once more as the Wall-Crawler after his successful return in No Way Home.
Apparently, it seems Maguire still has what it takes to play the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, by showing an impressive Spider-Sense-like reaction in a recent footage on Twitter.
#1. Tobey Maguire showcased his Spider-Sense recently in public.
Having portrayed the role for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy in the 2000s, Maguire clearly has learned a few tricks from his time playing the Web-Slinger. In a recent viral video footage on Twitter, a Spidey fan spotted the actor visiting a museum exhibit and looking at some artifacts.
The fan subtly averted his camera angle to record Maguire, only for the actor to turn around almost immediately, causing the fan to put the camera away. The fan was doing the filming from quite afar and without making a sound, so for Maguire to realize it immediately and instantly throw the dead gaze at him was quite impressive.
#2. The video caught Marvel fans’ attention worldwide.

Needless to say, the footage quickly went viral on the internet, with Marvel fans going crazy about Maguire’s inhuman reaction. Some even compared his reflexes to that of Spider-Sense, one of Spider-Man’s most unique abilities which automatically triggers to warn him about dangers or call of distress. The Spider-Man theme playing immediately afterward makes the footage even funnier than it should be.
Of course, calling Maguire’s reaction “inhuman” or “Spider-Sense-like” is a bit of an exaggeration, but veteran Marvel enthusiasts couldn’t help but directly link it to the Wall-Crawler, which is understandable.

Some others also called out the inappropriate filming bit from the fan, stating that he should respect people’s privacy. At the time, Maguire was wearing casual clothes and a cap to disguise himself from the public, so clearly, he didn’t want to get caught by the camera, and his expression afterward showed that he didn’t appreciate the filming effort either.
So far, the actor himself hasn’t said anything regarding the viral video.
#3. Does Maguire really have Spider-Sense?
Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time Maguire was able to sense someone else filming him in public without looking at first. In 2022, a TikTok video showed how the Babylon star immediately recognized he was being filmed from really far away. There are also multiple footage on the internet with Maguire spotting and looking at the lens several times, so this is nothing new.

It goes without saying that this doesn’t mean that Maguire somehow develops his own Spider-Sense by any means. Having been in the industry for more than three decades, it’s only natural for the actor to have an instinct to recognize when he’s being filmed.
Besides, not only performers, but people with good nervous reflexes can occasionally do these kinds of feats as well.
#4. Will Maguire return as Spider-Man?

Of course, seeing this rather hilarious video makes Marvel fans want the actor to reprise his Spider-Man role even more. While there isn’t any official statement yet from both the actor and Sony’s side, some recent rumors might leave fans excited for more Spidey action in the future.
A while ago, Thomas Haden Church, who plays Sandman in both Sam Raimi’s 2007 threequel and Spider-Man: No Way Home, revealed that he’s heard rumors about a potential Sam Raimi-Tobey Maguire team-up to film the long-lost Spider-Man 4 that never comes to fruition.

While the rumor hasn’t been confirmed, Maguire himself also claimed that he’d be more than ready to reprise his role as Peter Parker, should a fourth movie be made. However, with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, fans would have to wait a long while for the project to appear on the big screen.
