Three-Legged Dog Overflows with Gratitude And Gives His Rescuer Non-stop Kisses

Sometimes, we must admit that actions speak louder than words, and there will be times when words cannot fully convey our feelings. Especially when it comes to animals, who do not share the same language system as us. Actions can be considered the only way for them to express their emotions. Today, we would like to share with you a touching story that proves the power of action. The story is about Max, an abandoned dog who just went through a long journey before he could find his safe place. When the rescuer appeared to give him a second chance in life, he could not hold back his joy, and everything he could do was give his lifesaver tons of kisses.

Just a few days ago, Cassady Caldwell was stopped in her tracks when she saw a notification on Facebook. Caldwell, the head of Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL), was used to people getting in touch with him about needy animals in the area, but this tagged post was unique.

This time, she saw a stunning husky with broken eyes and a seriously injured leg. The pup was obviously in serious trouble and required immediate assistance.

Moments later, the husky, later named Consuela, was immediately on her way to SRSL’s headquarters. And when she got to the shelter, the vet team confirmed Caldwell’s fears about Consuela’s injury.

“She had something very tight wrapped around her foot,” SRSL wrote on Facebook. “She has to have an emergency amputation.”

Despite the fact that Consuela's leg was irreparably damaged, the little dog was fortunate to have a caring team of caregivers who could help her cope. “You’re going to feel so much better soon, and we promise you’re going to get around great on three legs,” SRSL wrote in their post on Facebook.

While the SRSL vet staff prepared the adorable pup for her procedure, she remained calm. And when she woke up from the surgery, she was one leg lighter and completely relieved.

Consuela was unable to interact with her new friends before having her leg amputated due to excruciating pain. However, after her surgery, she couldn’t stop kissing them.

“[She] had her emergency leg amputation and is feeling so happy and pain-free!” SRSL wrote on Facebook. “She craves attention, so she must have felt so much more pain than physical pain.”

After her procedure, Consuela's personality started to blossom. Nothing was more rewarding for the rescuers than to witness her success after being free from pain. “Consuela has such a beautiful soul!” SRSL wrote. “This girl is a gem.”

As much as the SRSL volunteers enjoyed Consuela's kisses, they were all aware that she would heal more quickly at home than in the shelter. So they made the decision to look for a foster family.

They got their wish for Consuela a week later, and it was truly amazing. “This sweet soul is leaving our bustling shelter for a quiet, loving foster home where she will heal much quicker!” SRSL wrote on Facebook.

Consuela is still recovering today, but she is lucky to have the best foster family to support her. Once she’s feeling better, Consuela can begin her hunt for a forever home.

Until then, SRSL can rest assured that the sweet pup is happier than ever and that the best is yet to come. “She’s so thankful to be free of that torture,” SRSL wrote. “Her future is so bright!”
