The Flash season 9, episode 3, "Rogues of War," saw Barry Allen assemble his gang of Rogues to counter the gang established by the mastermind villain Red Death and beat them to the punch in stealing the advanced quantum engine that Barry discovered was the villains' next target. The Flash, Goldface, Jaco "The Hotness" Birch, and Pied Piper faced off against Chillblaine, Captain Boomerang, The Fiddler, and the new Murmur in a four-on-four superhuman fight. Murmur and Pied Piper's battle appeared to be a total mismatch, given that Murmur appeared to be an ordinary human with no special abilities other than an aptitude for knife fighting.

When the new Murmur absorbed a point-blank blast of Pied Piper's sonic powers with no obvious ill effect, she was revealed to be a metahuman. She then used American Sign Language to tell Piper that her squad would welcome him, but the reformed Pied Piper refused, claiming he wasn't a killer. While the new Murmur's abilities were not revealed in The Flash season 9 episode "Dogs of War," it seems reasonable to assume she can capture sound. This would not only explain her use of ASL and how she repelled Piper's assault, but it would also explain how she was able to ambush Piper in the first place, given his enhanced hearing.

The most noticeable difference between the two Arrowverse Murmurs is that the new one is a woman called Michelle Amar rather than a man named Michael Amar. Iris West-Allen described the new Murmur's background as "an angry med student turned serial killer" who used her surgical abilities to slaughter her victims. The Arrow Murmur, on the other hand, preferred guns to knives and did not appear to be especially sadistic.
