Stray Cat Loves Dog At First Glance And Now Follows Her On a Walk Every Day

Have you ever had a good feeling about someone at first glance—someone on whom you think you can totally depend and give your trust unconditionally? animals have pretty cool intuition, and they will know when there is someone who is a match for them. Just like this kitten, he fell in love with a stunning dog the first time he saw her, and after following her home, he decided to visit her every single day.

The story began when Cay and her partner took their beloved dog, Coconut, for a leisurely walk one sunny afternoon. Little did they know that this simple stroll would soon be accompanied by an unexpected visitor. "As we were walking, this cat suddenly started following us," Cay shared with The Dodo, an animal channel. "Coconut sniffed the cat, and in no time, the cat rolled over on its back, meowing and showing love to Coconut."

From that magical moment on, the tabby cat became a regular companion, joining Coconut and her human parents on their daily walks without fail. At first, Cay assumed the cat belonged to one of their neighbors. However, upon inquiry, she discovered that this senior feline had been a stray in the neighborhood for quite some time. The compassionate community had collectively cared for him, providing refuge on their porches. While everyone had their own name for the cat, Cay affectionately referred to him as Bubba.

Bubba quickly became familiar with Coconut's home and developed the habit of visiting her in the backyard. "Whenever he hears us outside, he jumps the fence,... and they start playing immediately," Cay exclaimed. "Almost every single day, Bubba comes to play with Coconut."

Cay marveled at Bubba's patience, especially since Coconut had been eager to play with her two resident cats, who were less enthusiastic about the idea. "I think both Coconut and Bubba were seeking love and companionship, and I'm thrilled they found it in each other," Cay happily expressed.

Initially, Cay was hesitant to invite Bubba indoors because he had only experienced life outside. However, at the start of 2023, Cay decided to let Bubba explore the house while keeping her other cats and Coconut in a separate space. "We allow Bubba inside while the indoor cats and Coconut are put away, so he can roam and sniff freely," she wrote on Instagram. "Although he feels nervous indoors and often meows at the exterior doors, waiting for us to let him back out, we're working on feeding him inside to help him acclimate. However, he typically waits until we let him back in the garage before eating."

After a few months of granting Bubba the freedom to come and go as he pleased, Cay shared an exciting update in May. "After countless attempts, we finally had an entire evening with Bubba!" she joyfully revealed. "Though he eventually made his way back outside for the night, we found him curled up on our back porch couch in the morning... I hope this is a promising sign that he will venture inside more often!"

Sadly, Cay shared with The Dodo that Bubba and her other family cats are currently not getting along, which has hindered Bubba's progress as a potential indoor cat. She remains optimistic, hoping for a future update that portrays a happier dynamic among the cats. "I'm still working on it, and I hope one day we can share a follow-up story that's filled with more joy and less hissing," Cay expressed.

Until Bubba and the other cats decide if he's ready to become a permanent member of Coconut's family, he will continue to spend quality time walking, playing, and simply enjoying the company of his best friend both indoors and out.
