Shelter's Oldest Resident Falls Asleep Smiling, Knowing He Has Finally Found A Loving Home.

Sleeping is a window to our true emotions, where honesty reigns supreme. In those peaceful moments, our thoughts are laid bare and impossible to conceal. Whether happiness or sadness fills our hearts, it easily shows on our faces. Take, for instance, this adorable puppy. When people look at him sleeping with stunning grins on their faces, they can tell right away how happy he is when he finally finds the place where he belongs.

Petey was an abandoned canine that had been looking for a new, loving home for so long before he actually could. Though he has an infectious smile that touches the hearts of all who cross his path, he has been badly rejected several times by his potential adopters.

He had been a member of a high-admission shelter in North Carolina since he was just one year old. And he had been residing in this home for the longest of all the animals here. And it was not until his journey to SPCA of Wake County that his life changed. After moving to this new shelter, finally, in early October 2022, the SPCA Wake provided a much-anticipated status update on his adoption.

To better help this way too adorable puppy, the shelter decided to share his photos online, and it actually worked. Thanks to the internet and its wonderful power, a kind-hearted family had a chance to see his picture, and, right away, his pictures captured the hearts of the whole family.

They quickly brought him home, and the puppy was given the life he had wished for all along. Some wonderful photos of him playing and cuddling with his new family were captured and then shared with their furry friend. Surprisingly, a photo of Petey grinning broadly while snuggled up on a blanket was released and melted the hearts of many internet users. The animal sanctuary penned the following on Facebook: "That is the smile of a dog that knows he's home."

According to Petey's new family, he is adjusting to his new home admirably. He likes to spend time in bed, go on adventures, and acquire things. He likes to play with any dog he meets and especially likes his new sibling.

Petey is a wonderful dog, and now he gets what he has been waiting for so long. He has the loving home he deserves, and he is actually content with it. His smile can show you everything.
