"Servant": What Happens In The Series Finale?
Going into the series finale on March 17, few Servant fans knew what to anticipate. But that doesn't mean they weren't braced for a few shocking moments, and possibly a fatality or two. That's essentially how everything works. So, what transpires in the final episode of the Servant series?
Servant follows the Turner family, particularly Dorothy and Sean Turner, as they mourn the death of their infant son Jericho in a tragic accident. Enter nanny Leanne, who appears to have the ability to resurrect their infant. The series finale culminated in four seasons of unexplained riddles and unanswered concerns for viewers.
The series finale continues where the previous show left off. Jericho has returned in doll form, most likely because Dorothy now understands the truth about his death months ago. And both Leanne and Sean are attempting to persuade Dorothy of their respective objectives. Leanne requires Dorothy to wish for Jericho's resurrection, and Sean wants her to leave the house without looking back.
Dorothy, on the other hand, opts for some alone time. Soon after, Leanne walks to the rooftop, during a wild Philadelphia rainstorm, to confess her crimes. She looks to be planning to jump off the roof, but Dorothy intervenes. She convinces Leanne that, despite her evil acts over the past few months, she also gave Dorothy the gift of being able to spend more time with her baby.
However, Leanne appears to be hell-bent on penalizing herself for everything she has done wrong. This is why Leanne sets fire to Turner's home and lets herself burn along with it. The following day, one of the responding cops is revealed to be a member of the religious cult to which Leanne belonged.
Dorothy, on the other hand, says that she must let Jericho go. She must feel her sorrow rather than suppress it and allow Leanne's literal magic to work, even if it means saying farewell to Jericho for good. Dorothy has finally provided Leanne with the family and affection she has always desired.
Leanne sets fire to the home to burn inside it, which she does. She even stabs herself in the breast, as the religious cult had expected her to do to atone for her sins. However, after the finale, no body or remains are discovered in the fire. The writers of the show appear to have intended to leave one last major ambiguity in the series for fans to speculate on.
