Rescued Baby Raven Is Excited To Awake His Mother Each Morning

Wild animals make wonderful pets, and a raven is no exception. Walter is a rescued raven with an unhappy past. He predicted being rejected by his parents, and he fell from his nest when he was a newborn. At that time, the baby raven had a small chance of survival. Lucky for him, he was saved by a wonderful veterinarian, who then provided him with a ton of tender loving care. Though the past accident causes him so many troubles, the brave raven grows up strongly and beautifully.

Though the bird has recovered and grown up healthily, there was one problem: Walter couldn’t fly. Therefore, Lee released the bird in her backyard rather than in a remote location. And he has remained there ever since.

“Lucky for us, he was local to the property and area, so we released him at home and have kept a watchful eye on him,” Lee told The Dodo, an animal channel. “He’s 100 [percent] free-roam now but prefers to stay on our property.”

The little guy spends most of his time gathering rocks, leaves, mulch, and other items to give to his new family when he is not hopping around the yard munching on tiny bugs.

Walt has adjusted to his new life much better than his rescuers anticipated. He has even added a few new routines to his habits. Walter has been appearing at her window every morning to lure his best friend out of bed ever since Lee released him a few months ago.

“He wakes us up every morning at 6:45 a.m.,” Lee said. “He can sing, but it’s horrible.”

The little guy will occasionally crow at his mother through the screen. Sometimes, just to see if she is awake yet, he repeatedly rams his beak into the window. Although Lee is not usually a morning person, she has started getting up earlier as a result of Walter's persistence.

He will not be ready to start a family of his own for a few more years, but for the time being, he is loving being a part of Lee's family. He has even gotten along with his canine siblings.

Even though he is free to go wherever he wants, Walter always settles down close to Lee at night to get ready for another cycle of reliable wake-up calls.
