Overworked And Underpaid Employee Took Revenge On Her Boss By "Doing Her Job"

Sometimes, when you're adept at your work and comfortable with your coworkers and bosses, you tend to make voluntary contributions to your company. It would be nice if the manager realized that and appreciated your enthusiasm by giving you extra perks, but sadly, it's not always the case.

A Redditor shared her conflict with her manager on the subreddit  r/MaliciousCompliance. She has been working for her company for a year and could be in charge of many tasks, including supervisors' duties. However, due to the shift requirement, she didn't want to take the supervisor job, which meant she helped the management without any rewards.

The problem arose when the old managers were replaced by new ones. The new store manager, Karen, was a horrible boss in every aspect. She wanted everything to happen as she wished, and if there was something wrong, she forced other people to be responsible for it.

The poster tried her best to work in harmony with Karen. The manager seemed irritated with the Redditor's authority, but employees kept consulting her.

One day, after team work, the writer went to use the restroom, and that was when the boss took her chance. Karen immediately called the poster back to the working space and started asking her lots of questions.

It seemed like the manager hoped to discover that the writer was slack on her work or was doing something wrong. She even warned the Reddit user and reminded her to do her job.

The poster revenged her boss by doing exactly what she was told, and that was the game changer. She stopped helping with all management duties and only focused on her tasks.

As you might guess, the company couldn't operate normally since the managers weren't used to it. The new supervisor weren't able to handle all the tasks, while people in the stockroom didn't know to do their job.

The management was totally baffled, but they couldn't complain about it. All they could do was suck it up and do their job better. Since the poster did nothing wrong, Karen couldn't threaten or fire her even though she was furious about what the Redditor did.

In the comment, netizens gave lots of kudos to the Reddit user. Some also shared their own unpleasant experiences with their bosses. Others even suggested the poster should require a raise if she planned to take the managerial tasks again. She shouldn't have never done more than what she was paid.
