New Live-Action Stitch Image Is “Leaked”, And Fans Are Already Hating It
Lilo & Stitch has been one of the most well-loved franchises of the House of Mouse and a precious part of our childhood. I mean, who wouldn’t grow attached to the little devilish yet adorable blue alien and his loveable antics? Combined with the wholesome and relatable Lilo, the two became a dynamic duo that brought chaos and laughter everywhere throughout the series.
Following the animated franchise’s success, Disney decided to create a live-action remake version, which sets to release in 2024 or 2025. Unfortunately, things didn’t go smoothly at the beginning, especially during the casting process which received a lot of backlash from fans across the globe, regarding some characters’ “whitewashing” matter. And now, the audience is actually fuming when a picture of the supposedly “live-action Stitch” was leaked on the internet not too long ago.
The internet immediately explodes, with fans storming into Disney’s official accounts on social media to express their anger and demand the House of Mouse to change the “hideous” design as soon as possible. Many Reddit and Twitter users have shown their genuine disgust for what appeared to be our favorite blue alien.
“Not even the old CGI Sonic looked like this, I mean this is just a blue koala without hairs.” u/Bright-Repeat-4616
“Please be fake please be fake please be fake.” u/andrix7777777
“Kill it with fire!” u/ Bright-Repeat-4616
“Seeing Stitch like this, I don’t want to imagine what’d happen with Jumba and Pleakley.” Me neither, u/Escariota98, me neither.
Before this CGI Stitch incident, Disney has already faced negative reactions from fans, with the casting of Sydney Agudong, a Caucasian actress to portray the Native Hawaiian Nina. Many fans over the world considered this move by the studio as "whitewashing" and demand the studio to either recast, or they'll boycott the film. This is not the first time Disney's live-action receives backlash about the actors' skin color, with the prior example being Halle Bailey as Ariel in The Little Mermaid.
