Fox was hailed as the hottest woman in the world.
Her performance in the live-action Transformers boosted Fox’s fame. She even won an online poll and was chosen to be the hottest woman in 2008. The 37-year-old actress often appears in bold, daring outfits that show off her body.
Fox may seem confident but she actually feels the opposite.
In her interview for the sports magazines, she willingly shared about a disorder she was struggling with. She said, “I have body dysmorphia,”
For someone who doesn’t know what body dysmorphia is, it is a mental health condition in which you can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in your appearance.
She shared that she had a tough time, going through a psychological breakdown after being stereotyped in a certain image in the movie Jennifer’s Body.
“I didn’t want to be seen in public at all because (of) the fear, and the belief, and the absolute certainty that I was going to be mocked.”
Her insecurities started at a young age, and continue to this day.
“When I was little, that was an obsession I had, that I should look this way,” Fox shared. “And why I had an awareness of my body that young, I’m not sure.”
“And it definitely wasn’t environmental because I grew up in an environment where bodies weren’t even like, acknowledged,” she added.
Her physique may have gone through some transformations over the years, but her feelings about her body did not change. “I have a lot of deep insecurities,” Fox said.
She also opened up about accepting her body to love herself more.
In 2021, Megan Fox shared her thoughts about the way people see someone could be wrong. “We may look at somebody and think, ’That person’s so beautiful. Their life must be so easy.’ They most likely don’t feel that way about themselves.”
The actress was struggling with accepting herself, “The journey of loving myself is going to be never-ending, I think.”
She desired people could see who she truly is, regardless of her body and beauty. “What I most want people to know is that I’m a genuine soul who is hoping to actually belong to something and not always have to live as a misunderstood outcast.”
