Life is no doubt so hard for disabled people. Losing their ability in doing normal things makes them so unconfident, different and lonely. However, by sharing love and care, we can help these people raise their confidence again and lead them back to normal life. So, if it was the case of a disabled cat, would everything be the same? Let’s meet Mochi today and pay close attention to her story to know how this bad luck cat finally found her loving parents and started a whole new life after suffering a serious health problem.

Mochi is a Munchkin cat, who was originally born in China. She is a brave cat, who had a long journey from her hometown to the United States to meet her very first adoptive family before realizing her serious health problem.
Not long after moving to the new house, Mochi unluckily detected that she was suffering from a disease named ischemic dermatopathy. Mochi’s dream of having a loving forever house stopped right after the adoptive family realized that her health issue was so serious that it could cause a big burden to them. Hence, they sadly decided to surrender her to MSPCA-Angell, a special rescue shelter that could provide her with necessary care and treatment.
Even though she was immediately transferred to the medical center after knowing about the disease, her condition had advanced significantly at that point. It was decided by the doctor at the center that she had to amputate one of her hind legs, both ears, and her tails to improve her health. And, she had to spend more than two months alone at the shelter until she fully recovered and was ready for adoption.

Everything seemed way too difficult for Mochi but then things proved that miracles actually exist. She was then adopted by Greg and his fiancée Natalia, a lovely couple living in Boston. Despite her difficulty in physical health, her new parents loved her at first sight and they decided to give this adorable girl a sweet home no matter what.
“ My amazing fiancée and animal lover named Natalia saw the listing and immediately fell in love with Mochi and applied for her,” said Greg.

The couple then quickly received an announcement from the shelter and brought the little girl home.

It’s been two months since Mochi arrived at her new home. She is said to be an energetic and affectionate cat.
“She is so incredibly sweet, goofy, and full of life and energy. She loves playing games around the house (including hide and seek), she is quite vocal with meows, chirps, and squeaks, and she is so affectionate and loves belly rubs, head scratches, and sleeping on Natalia’s head at night. She loves being the center of attention and meeting new people, and she is a fearless adventurer who is extremely curious. We love her so much and spoil her; adopting Mochi has been one of the best decisions of our lives and she fills us with love.” said the lovely couple.

When asked about the meaning of her name, Mochi’s parents said that they thought she looked like a vanilla mochi ice cream ball. The little cat also has lovely nicknames given by people on the internet such as owl, seal, otter, cloud, potato, and ferret.

However, despite the fact that Mochi’s health is so much better than in the past, the couple needs to pay close attention to the little cat's current treatment.
Greg shared: “We believe Mochi will be able to live a long, healthy, full, and happy life, but we do need to be a bit cautious with her. She cannot receive vaccines, for example, as they suspect her initial illness may have been caused by a reaction to a vaccine. Because she has three legs instead of four, we have to be careful about her weight. When we adopted her, she was just under 2.5 pounds, and now she is over 4 pounds! She has quite the appetite. We also have to be careful around cleaning debris out of the very little part of her ears she still has. But aside from some of these careful precautions, Mochi is perfectly healthy and full of energy. In fact, she just had her first veterinary appointment and she is perfectly healthy!”

Mochi’s parents also shared that they were inspired by the amazing work of rescue shelters and they wanted to spread the meaning of this job wider. So, they decided to share Mochi’s story online to encourage people to consider adopting disabled animals. As a result, the story quickly went viral and the little kitty received tons of love and care from people around the world.
