Marvel Released Latest Update About Spider-Man 4, And What We Can Learn From It
While Phase 4 was more of a hit-and-miss from Marvel, it still has some decent entries, one of them being Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third movie in the MCU’s franchise about the Wall Crawler, which is also the third highest-grossing movie of all time of the studio. The studio’s Spider-Man trilogy is widely considered one of the most solid franchises in the MCU, and Tom Holland’s performance is highly appreciated by fans. And with the actor’s contract still imminent, we can believe that Peter Parker’s MCU adventure is not yet over.
The Marvel Studios Head, Kevin Feige, has already revealed to us that the story of Spider-Man 4 is confirmed and is under production soon, while also mentioning some other projects like Daredevil. However, there are no further details about the next Spidey sequel have been heard since, until recently, when producer Amy Pascal shared some updates about future Spider-Man projects, including a potential Miles Morales live-action, a Spider-Woman film, and of course, some news regarding MCU Spider-Man 4.
#1. Spider-Man 4 is underway, but is temporarily stopped due to a recent Hollywood event.
During her interview with Variety, the veteran Spider-Man producer revealed that Tom Holland’s next journey as Spidey is still in progress, before getting halted by an imminent problem. With the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, all work on the movie is now temporarily stopped, as the film’s staff are supporters of the strike. According to Pascal, production will resume once the strike is over, but an exact date is not confirmed.
“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are. We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.” Said the producer. Actor Tom Holland also confirmed this statement when he was at the premiere of the new Apple TV+ show “The Crowded Room” in New York last night.
#2. When is Spider-Man 4 released?
No official release date has been confirmed yet by Marvel. The previous entries of MCU Spider-Man were released consecutively 2 years after the last, but the same cannot be said about the 4th. With the writers' strike still imminent, a release in 2023 and 2024 is next to impossible. It would be ideal if the movie is released between the events of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (May 2, 2025) and Avengers: Secret Wars (May 1, 2026), as it would serve as a crucial link between Marvel’s next two ambitious crossover titles.
With Spider-Man 4 already on the horizon, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will be the first Spidey ever in Hollywood’s history to receive his 4th movie. Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man was canceled, and the same fate happens to Andrew Garfield’s version of the Wall Crawler after the ill-received sequel in 2014. There isn’t much information about the film yet, such as settings, characters, and whatnot… but we can make some rough guesses based on the events that happened in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
#3. Spider-Man: No Way Home sets up perfectly for the franchise’s next sequel.
In Spider-Man: No Way Home, while trying to restore his old life back, Peter Parker makes a huge blunder, which results in supervillains from other dimension start wreaking havoc in his reality, and ultimately kills Aunt May in the process. With the rifts of the Multiverse torn wide open, Doctor Strange has no choice but to erase Peter Parker from everyone else’s memory, including his dearest friends Ned and MJ.
#4. What can we expect in Spider-Man 4?
Now, all alone by himself, Peter continues his work as the Wall Crawler, without anyone by his side. This is the perfect setting for what will happen in Spider-Man 4, as a movie about Peter trying to reconnect with his old pals while fighting new bad guys makes a lot of sense. There are even some wild theories about Ned being the next MCU’s supervillain, or Morlun’s debut in the franchise, which is quite interesting if they turned out to be true.
Therefore, it’s safe to say that we might have to wait a bit longer to see the project comes to fruition, but Spider-Man 4’s release date is only a matter of time.
