A box of four kittens was put on Mill Road Vet Clinic’s doorstep.

When a box containing four kittens showed up on their doorstep, Mill Road Vet Clinic veterinarian Julie Wills was surprised. "We took them in and got them all set up in the incubator. We all fell in love with them. We did have the option of taking them to the SPCA but decided because they were so adorable we were happy to look after them," Ms Wills said to NZHerald.

"Three tabby & white boys & a black tabby girl, about 3-4 weeks old. Of course we all fell in love with them & vet nurse Nicole took them home to care for them overnight," Mill Road Vet Clinic also shares the story on Facebook.

The next morning, the vet welcomed an uninvited guest.

The following morning, people at the vet were greeted by a small tabby cat who was desperately trying to get in through the front door. “This morning we noticed a tabby cat hanging around our front door, trying to sneak in every time a client arrived.” shared the vet.

The brave cat tried to sneak in every time a client arrived. "Even when dogs came through the door this cat was trying to muscle its way through," said Ms Wills.

"When we realised it wasn't going to go away, we picked her up & discovered she was a feeding Mum." They brought her to the incubator, where she jumped right in and started washing the infants. She was really happy to be there.

"Then the penny dropped! Sure enough, we introduced her to the 'orphan' kittens & there was a very happy reunion! Presumably she had been in the box too & escaped before we arrived for work. She's probably been prowling around all night looking for her kidnapped kittens!"

After the reunion, the furry family was reported to be doing very well.

Until they could find them their forever homes, the mother and her young were taken into foster care by one of their staff members, who had lost their cat sometime earlier.

And luckily, not long after that, all four kittens and their cat mama have been adopted! These kittens then had their own names, which are Tyron, Muffin, Benny, and Dobby. Mama's cat was also given a very lovely name, Gabby.
