Lily-Rose Depp Reveals Why She Stayed Silent During Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Trial

Lily-Rose Depp, 24-year-old, the daughter of Hollywood actor Johnny Depp and French singer Vanessa Paradis, has recently spoken out about her decision to remain silent during the highly-publicized trial between her father and his ex-wife Amber Heard. The trial was a heated battle between the two stars, with both parties making accusations of abuse and counter-accusations of lying and manipulation.

Despite being a prominent figure in her father's life, Lily-Rose chose to stay mum on the matter, causing some speculation about her stance on the issue. However, in a recent interview, she finally revealed her reasons for staying silent, shedding light on her own experience with media scrutiny and her desire to protect her family's privacy.

Actress Lily Rose-Depp has spoken for the first time about her silence on her father Johny Depp's recent lawsuit with Aquaman actress Amber Heard. In an interview with Elle magazine, Lily revealed why she's remained silent about her father's defamation trial. Her dad, Johnny Depp made a point to protect her and her younger brother from the dark side of fame. He believed his children should grow up without the disadvantage of the public eye, especially the mess from the trial.

“My parents protected my brother [Jack] and me from it as much as possible,” she stated. “I know my childhood didn’t look like everybody’s childhood, and it’s a very particular thing to deal with, but it’s also the only thing that I know.” She continued to add, “It’s different experiencing [fame] firsthand rather than by proxy. I guess it’s something that I’ve had to make my own way with.”

Depp thinks her father’s legal drama was just too personal for her to publicly address.

“When it’s something that’s so private and so personal that all of a sudden becomes not so personal…I feel really entitled to my secret garden of thoughts,” she declared. “I also think that I’m not here to answer for anybody, and I feel like for a lot of my career, people have really wanted to define me by the men in my life, whether that’s my family members or my boyfriends, whatever. And I’m really ready to be defined for the things that I put out there.”

Lily revealed she plans to keep her opinions on the trial to herself and be "defined" by her own value. While Lily-Rose was criticized on social media for not speaking out during the trial, many of her fans came to her defense at the time.

“She doesn’t owe you ANYTHING and she doesn’t need to do ANYTHING… stop harassing her,” one Instagram user noted in May.

“Ignore the hate love. … Not everything has to be public,” another continued.
