Leonardo DiCaprio Demanded To Remove Meryl Streep’s N*de Scene From ‘Don’t Look Up’, Here's Why
A challenging and sometimes embarrassing component of the Entertainment business is intimate scenes. Actors may also feel uncomfortable and challenged by such moments. But some performers, like Meryl Streep, don't seem to mind making up scenes of closeness. But it would not sit well with her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.
Even Streep has discussed the advantages of acting in sex scenes. Performing personal on-screen sequences, as the seasoned actress has previously noted, maybe a pleasant experience. As a consequence, despite her long career in the field, Streep is still open to doing such parts.
Due to her respected status in the profession, Leonardo DiCaprio, who co-starred in Don't Look Up alongside Meryl Streep, was first uncomfortable with her short nudity in the movie. In an interview with The Guardian, DiCaprio reportedly stated his hesitation to watch the seasoned actress in such a way, according to director Adam Mckay. At the same time, Streep didn't see the scenario to be problematic.
“But you know who had a problem with it? Leo just views Meryl as film royalty … although maybe royalty is not a compliment … but as such a special figure in the history of film. He didn’t like seeing her with the lower back tattoo, walking for a second naked. He said something to me like: ‘Do you really need to show that?’ And I was like: ‘It’s President Orlean; it’s not Meryl Streep.’ But she didn’t even blink. She didn’t even bring it up.“ McKay told The Guardian.
In the black comedic satire Don't Look Up, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence portray two amateur astronomers who find a comet that is traveling toward Earth and might perhaps trigger an extinction-level disaster. A large ensemble cast, including Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Ron Perlman, and others, is also included in the movie. Climate change, political division, media slanting, and the place of science in society are among the topics the movie examines.
