As per Deadline's report, the news was confirmed by his father, Edward, who expressed the profound loss felt by stating, "Kevin was so incredibly special; this world is going to be less without him." The cause of his death remains undisclosed.

Survived by his wife Evelina and two sons, Jack and James, Turen's sudden departure has left a void in the industry. A close friend, Jay Penske, CEO of Penske Media Corporation, emphasized Turen's devotion to family and friends, noting that despite his Hollywood accomplishments, Kevin's greatest passion lay in his family. 

"Despite his many achievements in Hollywood, Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends. He was so proud of his children. He and his wife, Evelina, were resolved that their children grow up with great values and ensured they make a difference in the broader world. Our collective heart breaks for them, and we all feel such a profound sense of loss. We will miss Kevin so much, and this town lost one of its brightest rising stars,” said Jay Penske said in a statement per The Hollywood Reporter.

According to his IMBb page, Kevin Turen was born in New York City in 1979. A cinema scholar from Columbia University, he co-founded Little Lamb Productions in 2018. Collaborating with "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson, he also contributed to notable projects like "Pieces of a Woman" and "Malcolm and Marie." His extensive filmography included works like "Wassup Rockers," "Arbitrage," "The Birth of a Nation," and the upcoming series "Gossamer."

The suddenness of Turen's passing has resonated across the industry, with tributes pouring in. Cassian Elwes, producer of "Dallas Buyers Club," lamented the loss on social media, emphasizing the preciousness and fleeting nature of life.

"A good friend and true indie filmmaker died tonight too young. I’m so sad. Hold your loved ones close. Life is precious and fleeting," said Cassian in his X post.
