Jeremy Renner Walks Again With A Bit Of Help, Shares His Miraculous Story On Jimmy Kimmel Live

Earlier this year, Jeremy Renner got himself in a horrible accident that was nearly fatal when trying to save his nephew from a snowplow. A couple of months later, the Hawkeye actor has gone through a magical recovery and is now able to show up before the public again, with the help of a lot of metal plates and a cane so he can move around. On the Jimmy Kimmel Show, the star opened up about and his rehabilitation process how he overcame all the pain and challenges during the last few months.

The New Year's Day accident caused Renner serious blunt head trauma and orthopedic injuries and left the actor in critical condition with more than 30 broken bones. What sounds even more painful, is that he was conscious during the whole incident.
Luckily, the medic arrived on time, and Renner was airlifted to the hospital and able to undergo surgery as soon as possible. Doctors have to use metal and titanium to rebuild his rib cage, leg, and eye socket, while his jaw has to be relocated with medical screws as well.

“I’ve lost a lot in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium,” the actor humorously recalled the painful situation.
After the surgery. Renner underwent a lot of rehabilitation sessions, and luckily, he got support right where he needed it.

His family was there for him when it matters most. Rory Millikin, one of Renner's close friends, revealed that his mom has moved in to take care of him, and the room was always filled with the star's family members - from his nieces and nephews to his cousins and children. The family definitely played a crucial part in Renner's speedy recovery, which he admitted himself: "This is what I talk to my family about from all their perspectives, which are horrifying, that I put upon them. What we just endured — that’s real love. It’s suffering — but that feeds the seeds of what love is.”

Renner showed up as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live 3 days earlier, brimming with confidence and positivity, and we can all see things have changed for the better for him lately. Fans cheered his name when he was walking in with his cane, and the 52-year-old actor received a standing ovation on set as well. He even welcomed the audience with a little dance - the result of his recovery process - which made everyone very happy.

"If there are any questions about who the toughest Avenger was, that's settled now, right?" Said Kimmel. "I think I speak for all of us when I say, thank God, look at you, you look great. We’re glad to see you here." Couldn't put it better myself.

On the show, Renner once again provided us with the story of how he got into the accident, the pain and suffering he's been through, and of course, the healing progress. "It was really bad," said the actor, "but I got lucky. It was like a giant metal cookie roller, that missed every vertebra, didn’t hit any organs, my brain didn’t swell, nothing like that. My eye did pop out, that's weird." It's good to know that he saw the bright side of the situation. "My first conscious thought was... My calendar is freed up for the rest of the year!” He added.
The show concluded with another warming ovation for Renner because he deserved it.

During the same week, the actor also attended his new Disney+ series' premiere Rennervations (I see what you did there), accompanied by his daughter Ava. He walked with a cane and stayed a while for some pictures, before riding a scooter for the remainder of the trip.

After this, Renner will continue his rehab sessions to make a full recovery. With the progress he made, there's no doubt we'll be able to see the actor on the big stage soon.
