Life can change in an instant, and for Oksana Balandina and Viktor Vasyliv, a single misstep altered their lives forever. In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Oksana lost her legs, but her indomitable spirit and unwavering love guided her through the darkest moments. Now, she and Viktor have shared a beautiful first dance, showcasing their incredible resilience and the power of love.
Everything seemed ordinary as Oksana and Viktor strolled home, but fate had a different plan in store for them. In a heartbreaking moment, a landmine Oksana spotted exploded, shattering her world. While Viktor remained unharmed, Oksana endured months of treatment in multiple hospitals. Eventually, doctors had to make the difficult decision to amputate both of her legs and four fingers on her left hand. Oksana, a mother of two children, was devastated by the loss.
"I didn't want to live... I didn't want to burden my family," Oksana confessed, her voice filled with sorrow. "But with the support I received, I came to accept it. I realized that I must keep living. This is not the end of my life. If God spared me, it must be my destiny."
With a newfound appreciation for life's fragility, Oksana and Viktor made a courageous decision. They decided to embark on an extraordinary journey they had postponed for too long: marriage. Determined to embrace every precious moment, they organized a touching ceremony in the hospital where Oksana is currently staying as she prepares for prosthetic surgery.
Despite the challenges they faced, the bride proudly wore a wedding dress, and volunteers at the hospital baked a cake to mark the occasion. Most importantly, they shared an enchanting first dance, a testament to their enduring love and resilience.
