Gecko Looks Exactly Like A Leaf May Scare You Off

Do you believe Australia is the land of incredible creatures you can’t find anywhere else? Actually, such a rumor is true, except that the bugs and snakes don’t roam freely around as some might think. You don’t have to worry about the creepy crawlies most of the time since though they are visible, they live nowhere near you. Some of them may hide here and there occasionally, but generally, you won’t find them around residential areas.
While we hope never to encounter one of those snakes and insects, seeing a visible one might still be better than touching a leaf that turns out to be a lizard. What a creepy prospect!

That said, such a situation might happen because Australia is the home of the satanic leaf-tailed lizard- only its name can give a shiver down your spine!

This lizard does a stellar job of hiding and blending itself into the environment - which can be annoying for those who don’t like it.

The satanic leaf-tailed gecko is often found in rainforests in Madagascar. They are under the threat of numerous predators, so they have evolved with unbelievable looks and great skills to protect themselves. The ridges on their skin look like veins on leaves, while their tail is in the shape of a leaf, helping them camouflage perfectly with the surroundings.

That’s why they have the “leaf-tailed” part in their name. What about the “satanic”? It might refer to the gecko’s creepy red tongue or its ability to scream crazily to scare off predators.
