Entitled American Woman Sparks Controversy By Demanding Gas Pump Service At British Petrol Station
Different countries have their own ways of doing things. In some places, when you pull into a petrol or gas station, attendants are there to pump the gas for you, while in others, you have to do it yourself. These rules are set, and you have to follow them; you can't expect someone else to do it for you.
But here's the catch: there's always an exception. Reddit user u/throwaway25142116 shared a tale where things went a bit haywire. She rented a car in the UK, went to a petrol station, and joined the queue to fill up her car. Everyone was pumping their own gas. Then, out of the blue, a woman with another rental car assumed that OP worked for the car rental company and that this station was exclusive to them. Yes, she really thought that! Not only that, she wanted OP to pump her gas, even though everyone else was doing it themselves.
LOL, I can practically see your curiosity peaking right now—it's the classic entitled behavior that's hard to resist. Now, if you're eager to see how this unfolds, just scroll down and dive into the story.
Here is OP’s full story:
After working abroad for a while, OP chose to visit home. She rented a car for her UK trip, got the car, and went to the petrol station to fuel up.
OP mentioned that both in the UK and the country she works in, petrol stations don't have attendants – you pump the gas yourself. While waiting in line, she spotted a car from the same rental company she used pulling into the station.
Right when OP was done fueling up her car and ready to pay, she suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder – an angry woman had appeared. Uh-oh!
She requests OP to move the other cars so she can refuel her own. OP calmly explains they were there first and have the right.
SA seems to have a big misunderstanding, and as expected, she wasn't going to be pleased with OP's response.
Wow, SA is truly in her own world. And does she seriously not know that petrol and gas are the same thing?
A staff member shows up, and SA complains to them about OP's work not being done properly.
The staff asked OP if she was from the Car Hire Company, and she clarified that she wasn't, while another staff member explained to Karen that the petrol station was not affiliated with the company either.
Traffic begins piling up at the pump as SA refuses to move on.
Now she's asking for help to fill up her car, and surprisingly, she doesn't realize that gas and petrol are the same thing.
As cars started stacking up, an annoyed SM warned SA to move her car before it gets towed, while also making it clear that in the UK, people fill up their cars with "gas" themselves.
SA eventually moved her car, and OP scored a free sandwich, making her happy.
Absolutely delusional. I can't even fathom not knowing what petrol is. How can someone be this oblivious? Oh, wait, I take that back. She's just one of those entitled individuals who won't listen – it's no surprise she's clueless about petrol.
What really irks me is how quickly she jumped to assumptions and acted on them. Seriously, lady, a little confirmation wouldn't hurt. She's really getting on my nerves right now, and I'm not even at the petrol station yet.
And the comments from other Redditors roll in...
Let’s join the cause.
