How Emma Stone’s Newest Hairstyle Suggests Her Return As Gwen Stacy

Among the most gut-wrenching deaths in Spider-Man movies, Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy passing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is easily the one that traumatizes us the most. Not only because the actress has done an excellent job portraying one of the best characters in Spider-Man comics, but it’s also because the way she dies that breaks our hearts.

Luckily, Gwen Stacy makes her return to Sony’s Spider-man not long after in the animated sensation Into the Spider-Verse, this time as a Spider-Man variant, and is voiced by Hailee Steinfeld.

While Steinfeld’s performance as Spider-Gwen is exceptional, fans still can’t help but feel bad for Emma Stone’s version of Gwen Stacy, and many wishes to see her as Gwen again should the character appear in the MCU. This seems like an impossible dream to come true, but the actress’s latest hairstyle on Instagram once again raises speculations about whether she’ll return as Gwen Stacy or not.

#1. Emma’s latest hairstyle looks like a carbon copy of Gwen’s.

On the latest Instagram snap of the popular hairstylist Mara Roszak, who often takes care of popular Hollywood celebrities’ hair, she shared with us a picture of Emma Stone with the brand-new hairstyle, which looks eerily similar to Gwen Stacy’s hair in the animated sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

In the snap, Emma’s hair still retains the trademark blonde color that we all know and love, but it’s trimmed down unevenly, with a longer left bang that covers her eye just like Gwen in the movie. Mara Roszak describes her hair as “cool Girlie summer Bob”, but many fans would want to refer to it as “the Gwen Stacy” hairstyle, as it looks nearly identical to Across the Spider-Verse’s heroine.

Needless to say, Emma Stone’s latest hairstyle gets every Marvel fan in the world excited, as they think the similar hairstyle might be a hint that the actress is willing to return as Gwen Stacy in a future live-action Spidey movie. The post receives thousands of likes on Instagram, with hundreds of comments praising Emma’s new look and comparing her to Gwen.

“Now she just needs to wear a Spider-Gwen suit and the photo will be perfect.” An Instagram user commented.

“Don't even think of playing with us and getting excited that Emma will be Gwen again.” Another added.

#3. Will Emma Stone return as Gwen Stacy, and how?

While the new hairstyle looks great on the actress, it doesn’t necessarily mean that she will reprise the role of Gwen. As we all know, Gwen is confirmed to be dead in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, so even if a threequel is bound to happen in the future, it’s unlikely that Sony will bring her back. However, with the MCU and the Spider-Verse franchise, it might be a different story.

Since both the MCU and the Spider-Verse are further exploring the concept of Multiverse, and introducing multiple different timelines and dimensions. In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the animated film already included Emma Stone's version of Gwen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, during a footage scene in Miguel O’Hara’s headquarters.

While it’s hard for Emma to have a prominent role in both franchises, she can appear in a cameo role in the MCU, perhaps in a future Spider-Man or Avengers movie as a Spider-Gwen variant. The same could happen in Beyond the Spider-Verse as well, where Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen meeting a live-action variant of herself, starring Emma Stone would be a dream scenario for Marvel fans.

While her return is unlikely to happen for now, seeing Emma in the iconic Gwen Stacy hairstyle has made many Marvel and Spider-Man fans jubilant. Do you think the actress can return as Gwen Stacy in a future Marvel movie? Let us know in the comment.
