The rivalry between the two tech behemoths has long been known to the public, and Musk frequently makes fun of Meta-owned businesses on Twitter. Although Zuckerberg has been less harsh in his criticism of Musk, he did take issue with the Tesla founder's prognosis regarding the development of AI. He also blasted the launch failure of SpaceX. The social media giants Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are all owned by Mark Zuckerberg's firm, Meta.

A few days ago, Meta revealed that it has begun developing a platform to rival Twitter, which is controlled by Elon Musk. This appears to be the source of the current dispute between the old rivals.
