Dog Missing For 6 Years Is Filled With Overwhelming Joy When Reuniting With His Dad
Nothing can be as heartbroken as losing your beloved who has stayed by your side through thick and thin. Positively, this means that the day you see that buddy again is likely one of the most beautiful days of your life. That is why the adorable dog, Little Buddy, can’t hold back his happiness when he reunites with his dad after 6 years.
The dog was found on the streets of Raytown, Missouri, and brought to Midwest Animal ResQ. “He was dirty but otherwise healthy,” Erin Morse, founding director of Midwest Animal ResQ, said. “He was a little scared at the shelter but quickly melted the hearts of staff and volunteers here.”
Before Little Buddy came to Midwest Animal ResQ, the animal control officers who picked him up found his microchip. They sent chip alerts to the attached contact data, but no one replied. “His owners originally thought the email alerts were a scam because so much time had passed,” Morse explained. “Once we actually called the prior owner on the phone and told him we had his dog, he was over the moon.”
Shockingly, it turned out that the little pup had been missing for nearly 6 years. “When we heard he had been missing for nearly six years and he was so far from home, we couldn’t believe it!” she added.
When the owner got the call from Midwest Animal ResQ about Little Buddy, he immediately got in his car and drove for 4 hours to meet his lovable buddy. Both of them were thrilled when they saw one another and couldn’t wait anymore to reunite.
“Little Buddy went straight to his dad, and his little tail wagged so fast!” Morse said. “As soon as he got a good sniff and heard his dad’s voice, he immediately started licking his face. By that point, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.”
Little Buddy’s story shows every pet owner how important it is to microchip their furry babies, “and most importantly, to keep your contact information up to date, no matter how long your pet might be missing," according to Morse. This beautiful case also gives hope to the parents of missing animals. “Never give up hope that one day your Little Buddy might be found,” Morse stated.

Just as his name referred, the pup quickly became a good buddy of everyone at the shelter. “He would whine and paw at the cage door anytime someone would walk by, wanting to be let out,” Morse shared. “He had all the humans here wrapped around his paw pretty quickly.”Before Little Buddy came to Midwest Animal ResQ, the animal control officers who picked him up found his microchip. Everyone at the shelter felt happy for them and hoped to share this touching story with others. Such reunions must be one of the best job experiences for them. “It really warmed our hearts to see such a lovely reunion with someone who had never given up hope on finding their Little Buddy,” Morse noted. “It made it even better that Buddy’s dad felt so passionate about animal adoption and microchipping.
