Disabled Miniature Horse Once Abandoned Now Leads Best Life Ever With Three Dog Best Friends

Peabody was abandoned by his mother because he was so small. At that time, he was just a tiny, six-week-old miniature horse. Luckily, knowing his poor condition, Faith Smith from San Diego, California, stepped in right away to help this poor baby.

In the beginning, Peabody's first owners got advice from the vet to euthanize him because he was too tiny to reach his mom's breasts for weaning. However, Faith disagreed with this suggestion. Despite facing numerous challenges like difficulty walking, a misaligned jaw, and the suspicion of being deaf and blind, Faith was determined to give little Peabody a shot at life.

Faith claims that at just 19 pounds, Peabody was smaller than the majority of dogs. "Peabody is the smallest horse in the world at his age," she says.

When Peabody was rescued, Faith not only welcomed him into her home but also gave him a chance to meet her three lovely canine companions, who completely changed Peabody’s life.

While horses typically aren't indoor animals, Peabody's size made outdoor living challenging, so he became a loving resident with dogs in the shelter. Faith shared, “horses are never indoor animals, but Peabody is so small that he could never live outside unless he gets bigger, and we’re not sure if he will. At present, he lives inside the house with the dogs.”

Under the love and care of Faith and his amazing dog brothers, Peabody experienced remarkable growth. Now, with his head and jaw aligned, he learned how to walk again. He adapted pretty well to his surroundings and now has the best life ever.

“In the beginning, he was really in survival mode. He was just too scared for love. But he gets along with the dogs now.” said Faith.

Faith loves this amazing horse and she hopes that someday Peabody will grow big enough to join other horses outdoors. “I’ll keep him forever, but I hope he gets bigger so he can go out with other horses. Otherwise, he’s just gonna be a house horse.”
