Dave Bautista Feels Relieved To Say Goodbye To Drax From Guardians Of The Galaxy

After 9 years of playing Drax in six movies, Dave Bautista is wrapping up this role in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Although this role play an important role in his acting career, Dave found relief as it came to the end.

"I love him," he shared. "But there's a relief [that it's over]. It wasn't all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don't know if I want Drax to be my legacy--it's a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff."

Rian Johnson, who directed Bautista in Glass Onion, is described as saying that it's only a matter of time until Bautista takes on a more dramatic and serious part. "I keep telling all my filmmaker friends that someone is going to give Dave a real dramatic lead role in a movie, and they're going to look like a genius," Johnson shared.

Bautista also recalled the moment he found out he was cast as Drax all those years ago in the interview. Bautista was on his way to the gym in his car. "I had to pull over because I was crying so hard," he said. "I turned right back around and walked into my house shaking to tell my wife I had gotten the role, and we were both standing there freaking out."
