Baby Gorilla Just Wants To Play But His Grumpy Father Is Like “Stop Monkeying Around”

Despite lots of love spending for kids, parents sometimes find them very troubling. Especially when mom and dad are so exhausted after a long day at work, their energetic children could easily burn them up just by messing around and innocently ruining the only relaxing time of the day. Interestingly, animals also share family moments like this. Today, let’s meet the gorilla Oumbi to see how he reacts to the naughty pranks of his overreact son.
Oumbi is a silver-back western lowland gorilla and he is a long-time resident at Twycross Zoo. Even though he has a grumpy face, Oumbi is a big-hearted friend and he is a great dad to Lope, his 10 years old son.

Lope is a smart and naughty boy at the zoo. He loves having fun with his family, especially with his dad. But the old Oumbi is a cool dad and he isn’t always in the mood of monkeying around, so, there are lots of times when visitors see Lope messing around with his severe dad just to engage him in his play.
“Keepers occasionally see him playing with Lope, but once he's been caught he immediately stops and acts like the big boss again!!” told the Twycross Zoo.
It was a beautiful day and Oumbi just wanted to have a peaceful morning but his lovely son didn’t seem to understand it at all. In order to stop his dad from taking a chilling nap, Lope started doing everything possible to wind his dad up.

Oumbi was getting some rest under a pavilion when Lope began his silly series of actions. He took away his dad’s wood shavings and put them in his own head. He looked like a clown when he kept jumping and going around with stupid wood shavings in his head.

Lope then moved closer to his father and began beating his chest to make some noise. He even hit Oumbi from the other side of the fence just to distract him. Unfortunately, these annoying actions didn’t impress the quiet dad at all. Oumbi totally ignored his son and kept resting.

After the very first failure, Lope prepared his new plan. The son didn’t want to give up and he believed that there was more than one way to wake his father up. He then started hovering around his dad and acting as foolish (foolishly) as possible just to grab his dad’s attention.

While carrying out the plan, Lope kept watching Oumbi’s face through the fence and he surely knew that his father was totally mad. Yet he decided to keep fooling around with his dad.
Not long after that, Oumbi was so tired that he could not ignore his son anymore. He angrily put some wood shavings in his head so as to make himself as silly as his son wanted.

His annoying face was like “Yeah yeah, here you go kid, satisfied?”.

But the play hadn’t ended yet. Lope tried to engage his father into the peek-a-boo game as he thought it was so funny. He continued moving in and out and it definitely irritated his dad a lot.

The grumpy dad even threw the nearby bough away since he was too tired.
