Dogmo is a comic artist who lives in Seattle, Washington. He started drawing dark humor comics about a year ago out of boredom. "To put it succinctly, I make these webcomics as a way to cope with growing older (I just turned 30), and to have a creative outlet in a world of 40-hour workweeks and unending societal obligations," explains the artist. A big thanks for Dogmo's boredom, which made him create amazing comics for us.
Dogmo's fame is recognized in the comic field thanks to his work "Dogmodog". The webcomic is a series of stories mocking today's society and its issues, such as addiction to technology, religion, social media, and other topics that concern us nowadays. Interestingly, the author usually ends his stories with dark and unexpected twists that probably make people laugh out loud after comprehending them. Also, his visual style is incredibly unique. Reading his comics, you will mostly encounter shapeless characters, but they still fully express the story's meaning. The creator shares: “My art style is based on simple characters that are easy to draw and not off-putting. The colors were meant to help readers identify and recognize my work." Although his style is clean and simple, his sense of humor is most certainly not.
Talking about his inspiration, Dogmo says that he gets inspired by comics like "Perry Bible Fellowship" and "False Knees", as well as "Elder Cactus" and "Extra Fabulous Comics". So, if you want to be a comic artist, the first step is to read more and find inspiration.
