Andrew Garfield Reveals Positive Response About A Potential Amazing Spider-Man 3 Threequel, And It’s All Thanks To This Movie

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland are widely considered by fans as the three most popular and successful live-action Spider-Men ever, however, due to the rebooted franchise’s poor storyline and lukewarm reception, sometimes it feels like Andrew’s version of Peter Parker doesn’t get the recognition he deserves like the other two. As The Amazing Spider-Man 2 bombed at the box office and was heavily criticized by Marvel fans, a part three never comes to fruition as Sony drops the reboot franchise.

While the movies were lackluster, Andrew Garfield delivers a stellar performance as the Wall-Crawler and is still loved by a lot of fans, so it’s a shame he didn’t get his own trilogy like the other two Spidey variants. And while there is no further news about a potential Amazing Spider-Man 3 in the making yet, Andrew has recently sat down to discuss the issue. Here’s what the actor has to say about the Amazing Spider-Man franchise.

Garfield’s latest appearance as the Web-Slinger was in Spider-Man: No Way Home as a Multiverse variant along with Tobey Maguire’s version of Spidey. The two join Tom Holland’s Peter Parker afterward to put a stop to the Sinister Six, and later send the villains back to their respective universe. The MCU threequel’s worldwide success is widely praised by fans, as they rejoiced to see both Garfield and Maguire return to their most iconic role.

Ever since No Way Home, the demand for Sony to work on both Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 4 and Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has been skyrocketing, and the latter gives us some hope regarding the matter. In the extensive volume of Spider-Man: No Way Home - The Art of The Movie which will be available this August, Garfield gives his insight into The Amazing Spider-Man franchise’s “endless potential”, thanks to the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

“The story never ends. Whether we film it or not, there's a story happening in a universe somewhere, there's endless potential with this character and other iterations. So yeah, he's definitely out there doing something.” Said Garfield.

In the interview, the American actor neither refuse nor confirm a potential Amazing Spider-Man 3 movie, but thanks to the Multiverse expansion in No Way Home, there is a lot of opportunity for the movie to come to fruition.

#2. The ending of No Way Home has perfectly set up the potential events in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in not just one, but multiple ways.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, as the three Peters unite, Garfield’s Peter shares his experience as Spider-Man post Gwen’s death in the second movie, about how he stopped pulling his punches. As we all know, Peter’s strength got enhanced greatly to the point that if he doesn’t hold himself back, he can accidentally kill a mortal villain with little effort. This line may imply that Garfield’s Spidey may have gone down a much darker path, and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 can exploit this particular period.

The much-anticipated threequel could also dive into Peter Parker’s life after returning to his respective universe after No Way Home’s events. Now, Garfield’s Peter is conscious about the existence of the Multiverse, so we might get to see how he’ll further explore the concept behind, and somehow be able to travel through dimensions without Doctor Strange’s magic. The movie could also be a perfect chance to include some of Spidey’s most iconic villains that haven’t made their Amazing Spider-Man debut yet, such as Venom, Kraven, or even Hobgoblin.

While there are no rumors just yet about The Amazing Spider-Man threequel, a former actor in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man franchise has already confirmed there’s been meetings about a Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 4. Thomas Haden Church, who portrays Flint Marko/Sandman in Spider-Man 3, and also made his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, has revealed with Comic Book that both Raimi and Maguire are planning to resurrect the canceled part four.

“There's always been some kind of…I've heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [Spider-Man movie] with Tobey [Maguire] and if that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo.” Shared Haden Church. While there’s no official news just yet, to have both Spider-Man franchises release a sequel would be a dream outcome for Marvel fans.

Many believe Garfield’s Spider-Man is the most comic-accurate, as he’s quippy, confident, and doesn’t hold his breath from roasting the enemies. His body language in action scenes is also considered the best of the three. Besides, Garfield’s heartbreaking expression when he mourns Gwen’s death in the sequel never fails to make our eyes all teary.

Besides, with Garfield’s appearance in No Way Home, many fans want to learn more about his story after returning to his universe, and how he’ll move forward after Gwen’s death and meeting other Spideys.
