Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn's relationship has been a well-guarded aspect of the singer's private life. The couple, known for keeping their romance away from the public eye, first sparked dating rumors in 2016. Since then, they've maintained a low profile, with occasional glimpses into their connection through subtle social media posts and rare public appearances.
Swift, known for pouring her emotions into her music, has shared snippets of her love life through her lyrics, offering fans a peek into the joy and challenges of her relationship with Alwyn.
While everyone knows that Taylor is in a romantic relationship with Travis Kelce, there's a rumor circulating that she and her ex-lover Joe Alwyn secretly tied the knot earlier. Finally, the singer's representative spoke up to debunk this unfounded speculation.
Contrary to rumors from the gossip account Deuxmoi, Taylor Swift's publicist, Tree Paine, has made a rare and surprising statement debunking claims that Swift and Joe Alwyn tied the knot. Paine dismissed months-long speculation about a supposed commitment ceremony between Swift and Alwyn.
Deuxmoi alleged in a post, saying that Swift and Alwyn had a “ceremony in either 2020 or 2021 in the U.K. and it was described to me as a 'marriage' by more than one person. It was NEVER made legal. I will die on this hill! Put it on my tombstone! I have no reason to lie, I could give a shit.”
Paine called Deuxmoi’s saying “fabricated lies.” The message read, “There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It's time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these.”
It's not common for Taylor Swift's team to address internet gossip, especially the blind-item-style rumors. Swift usually reveals information through her music and rarely comments on such speculations.
Even when she and Joe Alwyn reportedly split in April, neither Swift nor her rep officially confirmed it. So, the statement dismissing marriage rumors, especially considering the prior breakup news, came as a surprise to Swifties. Fans, fueled by posts on Deuxmoi, had even speculated about a secret wedding.
After Paine’s statement, Deuxmoi reacted, “Well I make zero dollars from lying... can publicists say the same.” The account added, “Also, to relate something that is in reference to something that happened years ago to 'pain & trauma' after what just happened seems like a poor choice of words. Either way, I apologize to Taylor.”
Swift's relationship with Alwyn was back in the week when “You're Losing Me” released. The track, originally part of the deluxe version of Midnights, seems to be a pre-breakup song. Fans think it provides insight into Swift and Alwyn's relationship decline, focusing on someone losing interest in their partner, as the title suggests. Since ending his romance with Swift, Alwyn has kept mum. Meanwhile, Swift has happily moved on to a new boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
