In the clip, Ford was standing in the kitchen, going through a goodie bag given to him as a token of appreciation for 27 years of perfect attendance.

Yes, that's the most honest explanation for this. It showed a lack of even a simple appreciation for the amount of time an employee has spent working for a company. They just don't care. They need their employees to work and earn them profits, just that.
