On Monday, a local newspaper reported a rescue in which a seven-year-old Pitbull was found abandoned in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
The dog, then known as Mamas, was discovered by Eric Maus, who was walking two dogs he's been responsible for through the park. He realized she was chained up to a tree without food and water. The man immediately searched for the owner, but there was no one around.Source: Eric Maus
"She has these big brown doey eyes, and she was just laying there and it's like she was waiting for someone, tongue out, so cute," he said.Eric could sense something wrong with the pooch. When he came closer, he noticed a note hiding itself under clusters of the tree's leaves. The dog just didn't move or put up a fight. Despite her large size, Mamas was so "sweet" and "gentle".

“Take me home. I’m a great dog,” the note read, “Don’t let my size scare you. I’m sweet.”And " that's when I knew I needed to do something to help her," Eric shared.
The man posted a picture of the massive dog on Facebook asking for help, and within 5 minutes, he received dozens of responses. A Good Samaritan who came across Eric at the park offered to take him and the dog to Sean Casey Animal Rescue, which was located just miles away there.

"This dog was incredibly lucky," said Casey, the chairman of Sean Casey shelter. "Sadly it's one of the most common things that we see. We get several calls a week for dogs that have been tied out here or cats left in boxes, things like that. And it really is a horrible thing to do."Source: Eric Maus
A check-up was taken for the sweet dog, and veterinarians concluded that she had a bladder infection which make her walk slowly and heavily. Otherwise, she'd have been in good health. Maybe, her former owner couldn't afford her treatment and decided to leave her for someone that could. But eventually, Mamas was in safety and good care. The dog was soon nursed back to health, and she was ready for adoption one week after that.Source: Eric Maus
Thank Eric Maus and Sean Casey Animal Rescue for rescuing the dog and bringing her a brighter future.H/T: Eyewitness News
