10 Times People Shared Their Experience Working With Famous Actors

Aside from funny bloopers and hilarious behind-the-scene pictures, we rarely get to see what happens on the set of a movie. Many people wonder what working with famous actors would be like. Will it be fun, or will it turn out to be a total nightmare? Lucky for us, some costars and movie crews who worked with them have posted their stories online.
These people have worked with some A-list stars and they are unafraid to share their experience working with famous actors with other people. So let’s find out what they have to say about our favorite celebrities.

1. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Dwayne Johnson is wonderful to work with on set. His costars claimed that he motivated and inspired them, like Idris Elba who once said he was impressed by Johnson’s fitness regime and how he looks after his body. “It definitely inspired me,” the actor shared.
Zac Efron, who worked with Johnson on Baywatch, also describes Johnson as someone who works to make himself become better and better every day, saying his progress is “like a flower that never stops blooming.”

2. Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks is famously known as one of the nicest actors of our generation. At first, his costar Emma Watson had some doubts about his personality, thinking he couldn’t live up to his reputation. “There’s no way he’s going to be as nice as everyone says he is,” the actress then added, “And then he was!”
Hanks Completely changed Emma’s mind and proved he was as nice, if not more, than what was rumored to be. Emma later praised the actor as very generous, funny, and easy-going, saying she was glad he was genuinely wholesome in real life.

3. Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. has a great relationship with all the other members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He brought everyone together and treated them as his family, ensuring they felt very welcome.
Chris Evans shared that Robert has always been in his corner and made him feel very supported. “He’s such a wonderful guy and is so talented, so experienced, and so supportive,” Evans said.

4. Ben Affleck

One of the extra actors who worked on the movie Live by Night recalled their experience working with famous actors on Reddit. They worked with Ben Affleck and described Ben as a very professional actor who cared a lot about his fans. He was on set at 6 a.m. at least and done by 10 p.m. After that, Ben would take time to take photos with fans whenever he could.
The actor was quite a polite and down to Earth guy too. He liked to talk about baseball with other crew members. Once the work was finished, he thanked everybody for their work on set, including the extra actors.

5. Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling is really attentive to his colleagues. During the making of The Nice Guys, Gosling auditioned with several young actresses and he knew the background of every participant in the audition.
The director of The Nice Guys, Shane Black, shared that Ryan Gosling knew what they’d done and some of their history. The actor took time to know the kids he was auditioning with so he could support them in any way they needed.

6. George Clooney

George Clooney is not only a great actor but also a great director to work with. Tye Sheridan, a young actor who was performing in The Tender Bar, shared that Clooney was very supportive and was great at making everybody feel comfortable. “It’s almost like he’s right there acting with you, and it becomes really fun,” he said, “I think our relationship had a different dynamic than I’d ever had with any other filmmaker before, so I really enjoyed it.”

7. Willem Dafoe

Willem Dafoe might play terrifying villains on screen, but he is a real sweetheart off-screen. His costar Robert Pattinson was inspired and even a little bit terrified by how much energy Dafoe had. Pattinson felt like there was nothing that could make Dafoe feel tired. “It’s just unreal. It’s almost like working with a 6-year-old,” he described.
However, Dafoe’s energy also inspired Pattinson. The younger actor recalled during one of their rehearsal, they just went through the entire movie. And as soon as they finished it, Dafoe was ready to do everything again like his energy hadn’t even been dented.

8. Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe is notoriously known for being very hard to work with on set. However, his attitude could be explained by his extremely passionate dedication to his work. L.A. Confidential’s director Curtis Hanson once defended the actor, saying he was very committed to his character. When Crowe made sure that the director was as passionate about his character as him, he did everything Hanson asked without any question.
Hanson also recalled that Russell Crowe spent 6 weeks of their rehearsal going over every line in his script. The director shared that Crowe would question each line in every possible detail, saying “Russell is an actor of literally 1,000 questions.”

9. Lea Michele

Lea Michele is another actress who is famously known for being mean to her colleagues. Her Glee co-stars didn’t have a great time working with her. The late Naya Rivera, who played Santana, shared: “I think Rachel — erm, I mean Lea — didn’t like sharing the spotlight.”
Rivera also claimed that Michele had a hard time separating work from their outside friendship. “It seemed like she blamed me for anything and everything that went wrong,” Rivera said.

10. Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is funny on screen, but he isn’t a funny person to be around on the movie set. One extra in Dumb and Dumber Two recalled that Carrey was kind of a huge douche to everyone on set, including his costar Jeff Daniels. During the scene where Harry and Lloyd were in the theater heckling the speaker, the DP Matthew F. Leonetti politely asked Carrey to lean forward a little bit so the light could reach him better.
Carrey exploded and yelled at that guy, saying “I shouldn't have to worry about the fucking lighting while I'm acting. Do your fucking job. You're fucking pathetic.” The actor was also very mean to the How The Grinch Stole Christmas crew. He was not happy with the makeup process, so he acted hostile toward everybody on set, especially his makeup artist Kazuhiro Tsuji. Tsuji had to go to therapy after working with Carrey and claimed that the actor was "mean to everybody".
