Abandoned Dog Wanders Around Neighborhood, Looking Into Every Yard In Hopes Of Finding His Long-Lost Family
Imagine being a stray dog—that's tough enough. But what's even harder? Being a stray dog that was once part of a family, only to be left behind. The pain of going from a life filled with love to one of homelessness, hunger, and neglect is unimaginable. Unfortunately, this heartbreaking situation is all too common for many dogs out there, and not all of them get a second chance at a better life.
Meet Scooby, a dog who found himself facing this cruel reality. While nobody knows for sure whether his family intentionally abandoned him or circumstances forced them apart, it's clear that he lost the home he cherished. A single glance into his eyes can tell how hopeless he is. However, the sun appears after a rainy day. And it was thanks to good people in the neighborhood and shelter animals in the area that his life has now changed for the better.

Just last week, Scooby was trapped in a difficult situation when Southern California prepared for a major hurricane. This poor pup was wandering around a Los Angeles neighborhood, peering into people's yards, hoping to spot the family that had left him behind.
People living nearby noticed the big, white dog walking around with a sad look, but they weren't sure how to help. That's when they called Suzette Hall, who's the founder of a dog rescue group called Logan's Legacy.

“The neighbors were all feeding him, but no one wanted to let him in because he had so many ticks,” Hall told The Dodo. “The poor baby just waited.” Even if someone had let the dog inside, Hall thinks he might not have gone in. He seemed really focused on finding his family and wouldn't leave the street without them.
“He would look under people’s gates as if to say, ‘Are you my home?’” Hall said. “He just wanted to find his family.” As the storm got closer, Hall hurried to the neighborhood in Orange County. When she pulled up to where the dog was hanging out, he perked up and looked hopeful at her car. At first, he probably thought that his family had finally come back. But he soon realized that Hall was there to rescue him, which left him with mixed feelings.

“It was like he knew a rescuer was there,” Hall said. “But he was a little hesitant because he thought they would come back. I think he thought that if he left with me, he would never see that family again.”
Hall understood that the dog must have been really sad. But she wasn't going to leave without him. So she sat down beside him and spoke gently until he felt more at ease. “We had a long talk,” Hall said. “I told him that his family wasn’t coming back but that he was safe with me.”

Hall drove straight to Camino Pet Hospital, where a team of caregivers took care of Scooby. Before long, the loyal pup was feeling better than ever. “He literally just wiggles his tail now, rolls over and wants belly rubs,” Hall said.
Right now, Scooby is staying at the pet hospital while he waits for a forever home. For a dog as good-hearted as Scooby, Hall hopes that he won't have to wait too long. “We are desperately looking for the forever family that he deserves,” Hall said. “He’ll never be abandoned ever again.”
