Behind the success of "Life of Sharks" is two artists named Christian Talbot (the writer) and Sophie Hodge (the illustrator). When asked about the creative process, Christian shares that their ideas come from all over the place. "It could be a phrase I hear or a news story or something that’s happened to me that she can thinly veil as happening to a funny animal. Sophie will often send me a random situation for me to write a cartoon about. I get my best ideas while I’m vacuuming the house or when Sophie texts me to say she’s run out of stuff to draw and to please try and be funny." explains the artist. "I use Wikipedia to confirm (or deny) the things I THINK I know about sharks." What a perfect combination, isn't it?
Christian also comments that he can't draw, but his partner, Sophie was able to do it and add her unique style to the whole thing. "Life of Sharks" comics are funnier because of the way she draws them.
