9 Photos Showing How Much Celebrities Changed After "Hollywood Makeovers"

Celebrities are typically admired not just for their abilities and notoriety but also for their outward looks. It's hard to believe that normal people can look this wonderful. The best genes and dermatologists can only do so much. Before the Hollywood star-making machine kicked into high gear, many famously handsome superstars had ordinary looks.
You may be shocked to see some of these gorgeous superstars before their makeovers. Thanks to their radical makeovers, they went from awkward geeks to dreamboats and from lovable goofballs to chiseled heroes. Makeovers for celebrities can range from just going to the gym and getting a new hairstyle to more extreme measures like plastic surgery and a complete overhaul of their smile. These famous people may appear very different before and after they became famous.
Anyone can make it appear like they're a movie star with enough money, a good staff, and some good lighting. You should know that many renowned and attractive people today had their share of flaws in the past and that this should give you some comfort.

Before his fame, DJ Calvin Harris looked like any other struggling musician: dirty and unattractive. He first released his songs on Myspace before signing with a company in 2006. This led to the release of Harris's first album in 2007, and he finally broke through in 2012, when he also got a new hairstyle and a more polished public persona.

Young Jamie Foxx wasn't exactly a hottie until In Living Color debuted in 1991. By 1996, though, he had matured into a leading man's leading man. A gorgeous, award-winning leading man, Foxx rose to prominence with his starring role on The Jamie Foxx Show and his successful musical career.

At 16 years old and with a head full of curly hair, Nicole Kidman made her Australian film debut in 1983's Bush Christmas. More than ten years later, in 1995, the once-nerdy kid was seen worldwide as the stunning love interest in Batman Forever. In addition to being one of Hollywood's most stunning actresses, she has earned a slew of trophies for her acting prowess.

In the early 2000s, Zac Efron began performing in small roles. He was still going through the normal tribulations of youth. The release of the High School Musical that year catapulted the young actor to fame. These days, when Hollywood needs a ripped guy, they turn to Efron.

6. Tom Hardy

In 2003's Star Trek: Nemesis, Tom Hardy played the antagonist. The film was critically panned and nearly doomed the franchise. It's hard to blame the bald, thin actor for failing to make an impact on moviegoers. After a few years, in part because of 2010's Inception, the demand for English actors skyrocketed. Now a sex icon in Hollywood, the once-plain string bean was formerly considered a vegetable.

7. George Clooney

As a long-haired actor in the late 1980s and early 1990s, George Clooney starred in mediocre films like Return of the Killer Tomatoes. But owing to his ER stint, the kook became a Hollywood star by 1994. Since then, he has risen to become one of Hollywood's biggest names in Entertainment.

8. Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise just began his acting career in 1983. He played a role in The Outsiders, although he didn't exactly steal the show. Three years later, in Top Gun, there was no sign of the chipped tooth; he had presumably worn a cap on one of the teeth but taken it off for the part. Although he was already 40 when he got braces, Tom Cruise is now one of the world's most recognizable actors.

9. Katy Perry

Originally known as Katheryn Hudson, the singer/career songwriter did not begin with mainstream songs. As an alternative, she released a gospel album in 2001. After its failure, the singer relocated to Los Angeles and completely revamped her image. Katy Perry, her new stage name, debuted a more feminine, pinup-inspired style with the release of 2008's One of the Boys, a pop record that became a hallmark of hers over the next several years.
