Growing up, I had a love/hate relationship with arithmetic. I recall several excruciatingly unpleasant evenings in middle school when I sobbed over my math homework at the dining room table with my family because I simply could not understand it. By the time I reached high school, I had developed a love of math thanks to my father's and my algebra teacher's incredible tolerance.
Math can occasionally be so difficult that it makes you want to cry. However, the majority of us still use simple math on a regular basis without too many issues. Today, though, we are dealing with a group of individuals who obviously skipped math education in the past.
The r/TheyDidntDoTheMath subreddit is devoted to those who made fools of themselves by obviously not doing the arithmetic, as the name suggests. The slideshow below features some of the funniest submissions.
Its logic is consoling because it just makes sense (for the most part). Additionally, I was starting to realize how helpful it would be to me for the rest of my life. And while the majority of us don't need to be able to mentally divide by ten, having a rudimentary understanding of math may make life considerably simpler.
