On Tuesday morning, at 7 a.m., fishermen at Barnegat Bay on the Jersey Shore noticed a dog about 75 yards (nearly 70 meters) from the shore struggling to float on the water and called New Jersey State Police troopers. Immediately, Ryan Koehler and Vincent Ferdinandi came to the place and tried to approach the canine on a Zodiac motorboat. They realized it was an exhausted, hungry, fearful Golden Retriever and gently helped him to land.Source: FOX 29 Philadelphia

After saving the dog from the ocean, they recognized he had been reported missing for two weeks by his owners, Marie and James Zangara. He was three years old. His name was Chunk. He suddenly got frightened and ran away into the forest when they were playing fetch at F- Cove in Brick Township. Afterward, the officers searched for him through local hunters, trail cameras, and social media.Source: FOX 29 Philadelphia
Earlier the same day that Chunk was found in the water, two joggers on the Mantoloking Bridge had reported seeing him, but he was too scared to let them touch him and jumped into the sea. It was two miles (about 3.2 kilometers) away from the place where he was rescued.Source: FOX 29 Philadelphia
The officers informed his owners. When they arrived, Chunk stopped trembling and rushed into his family's arms. The couple couldn't express how shockingly happy they were to hold Chunk again since they were so desperate after two weeks of waiting for him without any signs. They were grateful for everyone's helping hands as they took him home. After the missing, Chunk lost 20 pounds (around 9 kilograms) due to malnutrition.Source: FOX 29 Philadelphia

The water rescue was pinned on the Facebook page of the New Jersey State Police, which delightfully stormed up the animal lover communities looking forward to Chunk's searching mission. Besides, the news was broadcasted through social media. Even though everyone felt sorry for the Golden Retriever's two weeks of separation and fear, they were so contented to know that finally, he had reunited with his family.Source: FOX 29 Philadelphia
