Kids Versus Pets: Father Lost His Cool After Being Warned His Toddler Would Be Bitten For Hitting And Punching A Dog

We often see on the internet snapshots capturing heartwarming moments of kids and pets. They play and sleep together joyfully, which is the best thing to admire. However, toddlers can be mischievous and naughty. Parents should be careful of every living creature around their babies. Plus, communication with toddlers is challenging as they are too young to speak and understand. Disciplining a child takes time, effort, and patience. Especially when we have pets as companions, how can we make them good partners in our children-educating journey? Let's see what Reddit had to say about this!

A dog man with his user account name u/kspot asked the thoughtful subreddit community r/dogs for help since his furball had some trouble with a two-year-old girl. The original poster had just moved into his relatives' house. The toddler loved to poke and throw things toward his female pup. Even though the dog was sleeping, the little girl punched her trunk and stomped at her tail. The puppy didn't respond to her provocation, which made the OP appreciate his furry pal much more.

Seeing the parents telling the girl not to hit the canine and letting everything else pass, the OP wasn't satisfied. He warned the father that his daughter would be bitten someday if she kept disturbing violently other people's pets. The father explained displeasedly that all his child's behaviors were ordinary. Since the OP hadn't had a child, he didn't know how to deal with the relative family.

In the comment zone under the OP's cry for help, Reddit advised him to keep his eyes on his pup all the time and try to separate her from the child. They admitted that the toddler had no fault, and she just acted normal. But her father was unreasonable and quite a lazy dad. They expected her parents and the OP to accommodate each other to keep the baby and the dog safe and sound.

Considering the little girl wasn't comprehensive, Reddit thought she shouldn't be left alone with any domesticated animal. Instead of strict punishments that only led her to hate the pet, they supposed it was better to talk to her patiently and teach her to pet the puppy gently. Despite some harsh comments on the little girl, Reddit generally hoped the OP's furbaby could have a comfortable life as the girl grew up to be kind and generous toward animals. Replying to Reddit, the OP informed gratefully that the toddler had learned to pet his pup softly.
