Man Gets Criticized By Neighbor For Shouting At Kid Who Runs After Dogs, But Reddit Rallies Behind Him

Being parents has never been an easy task. Apart from providing children with what they need, parents must teach them about social etiquette and take responsibility for them. At a young age, kids should learn to steer clear of dangerous animals and ask the owners if they want to pat the pets. Unfortunately, not every parent could understand the importance of that lesson.

The Reddit user u/HotButterscotch8682 shared in the subreddit AmItheAsshole his unexpected conflict with a neighbor and gained support from the internet. He was walking his two dogs in the neighborhood when he passed a kid in front of a house. The little boy seemed to adore his dogs, and the owner waved back at him friendly.

A few minutes later, the man was startled when he saw the kid sprinting full speed toward his dogs without an adult’s supervision. Out of panic, he shouted at the boy to keep him away from the dogs.

While the boy seemed oblivious to the dog owner, his father ran after him. At first, the poster believed that the neighbor would nag at his son for his reckless actions. Surprisingly, nonetheless, the father was probably not aware of the problem, so he raged at the Redditor for yelling at his child.

Though the poster was furious and snapped back at the other man, he thought he had overreacted in the hindsight. Therefore, he turned to Reddit to look for others’ views.

In response to the post, most people concurred that the Redditor was in the right since he had tried to protect his dogs as well as the child. It was possible that the dogs were so scared of the kid that they attacked him.

Some thought the man should keep a cool head in these situations as his temperament could affect his pets, which may lead to grave problems.

Many Reddit users also criticized the father for his reaction. He was irresponsible when leaving his kid unsupervised and did not teach him to respect others. The public concluded that he was the wrong person, so he did not have the right to scream at the poster.
