Woman Insisting On Roommates Paying For Dog Food Leaves Public Divided

Raising a pet when living with roommates in a rented property may cause many problems. Although your roommates may lend you a hand in looking after the pet, sometimes they may treat your pet in an unwanted way.

Posting in the subreddit AmItheAsshole, the account u/SultryNugget consulted the internet on her conflict with her roommates over her 4-year-old 120lb Presa Canario dog.
The poster, a 28-year-old woman, and her dog lived with three men, who often helped take care of the dog when she went out. Generally, the owner fed her dog two times a day, in the morning and evening. Recently, however, she realized that her pet was overfed since the dog food ran out more quickly.

She brought the issues to the roommates and blamed them for indulging her dog. In defense, the men claimed that they just tried to ease the dog’s craving for food.

As a result, the woman hid the dog food to prevent her roommates from overfeeding her dog. Nevertheless, the issue fell out of control when the men tried to look for the dog food, and they also gave the pet their own food.

The Redditor insisted that if her roommates wanted to feed her dog more, they had better pay for the extra food. She was in a dilemma at the moment as though she was worried for her dog, she could not change the accommodation until next year.

The poster added under the story that even though the dog usually begged for food, he did not have any aggressive actions. According to the vet, her dog had remained a perfect shape for over three years, so she believed the usual amount of food was sufficient for him.

The post has aroused a bitter controversy in the comment section. On the one hand, many supported the Redditor as she had stood up for the sake of her dog. It would be dangerous for the pet to eat human food, and he would be likely to adopt a bad habit if the roommates continued their actions.

On the other hand, some Reddit users criticized the woman for her entitlement. She should have known how lucky she was lucky to have roommates willing to help her care for her enormous pet. It was her responsibility to train the dog so that he would stop bothering the roommates. Besides, a Redditor recommended the owner divide the daily dog food amount into three meals instead of two, which might help appease her dog.

Other commenters thought no one in the story was in the right. While the roommates should not overfeed the pet, especially with human food, the owner did not have the right to shout at them. Additionally, the way the poster expressed herself indicated that she was anxious about the cost of the dog food rather than the pet’s health.
