Legolas - more than an elf in Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit
The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Peter Jackson introduced us to a whole fictional world called Middle-earth. After the success of the trilogy based on the same titled book series, 10 years later, Peter Jackson put his works on making The Hobbit into another trilogy. Once again, the audience was brought back to Middle-earth with familiar characters: Gandalf, Frodo, Bilbo, Elrond, Saruman, Galadriel,... and Legolas. Legolas was one of the most favored roles of Orlando Bloom and set up his popularity in Hollywood. In Lord of the Rings movies, Legolas is a member of The Fellowship of the Ring. He’s also best friends with Gimli - a dwarf. He shows his amazing archery skill in battle and he’s able to move rapidly and quietly as an elf.

Compared to other elves’ costumes, the Silvan elves’ costumes are darker in color and mostly in brown, green but not white or blue. And somehow they are considered more selfish. Isolated from the world, living deep inside the wood, Silvan elves care more about protecting their people and their land. Therefore, Legolas, a prince of Woodland Realm, chose his life as an adventurer and a hero, breaking this stereotype.
He joined The Fellowship of the Ring to support Frodo to carry the One Ring to Mount Doom, Mordor to destroy it. He contributed his best alongside the companions: Gandalf, Aragorn, Boromir, Gimli and four hobbits: Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin. Legolas also battled in many important battles: Minas Tirith, Helms Deep, The Black Gate, The battle of five armies (in The Hobbit) and many other small battles along six movies.
